Wow, lots of replies!
If I'd known there was going to be so many replies & divided opinion I would have set up a poll
I think I'm going to join the non-peeling set for soups etc
Thanks all

i generally peal normal big carrots, but when i buy the litte chantney ( i think they called ) and the thin new season type ( which still have the green on the top) then i just give them a scrub , as if i was to peal them the be left with tiny carrots, and i find they are so sweet and scrummy they don't need pealing.0

I've recently stopped peeling carrots - no one has noticed yet and its not just the speed I hate cucking the skins away -even if they are going on the compost heapPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I peel normal sized carrots if they are used as side veg, but not if in a stew or being grated into something. Scrubbing sounds much more like hard work than peeling to me."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." I too peel carrots but not the tiny chantanay ones as they are just too delicious to waste peeling.I bought a kilo last week for 50p and have just remembered they are in the box at the bottom of my fridge I think I will do half for carrot and coriander soup, and the other half I will grate some and make a carrote cake and the rest I will peel slice and blanch for the freezer. Its suprising what a couple of pounds of carrots will make for very little outlay.0

I'm another who doesn't peel carrots the majority of the time... unless I'm at work, and getting paid for your time makes peeling carrots much less tedious!
I also don't scrub carrots unless they are dirty, and they only get peeled in our home when we have guests.
Life is definately too short to peel carrots every time you have some!0 -
I sometimes peel them because the chooks love the peelings lol, but those smaller ones and the homegrown ones once they are in I don't bother.

I never peel veg, just scrub with a brush I have, just for this job. Waste of time peeling. Pick out the nasty bits with a pointy knife.
