Just to make you feel better, of course, because I am sure you are grieving for the old CC just now

UPDATE:
I bought my dance ticket yesterday.......I felt wonderful spilling out the £1 & £2 coins (and a 50p!) onto the counter and then he handed over the prized golden ticket.
OK it wasn't golden but it could have been the way I felt!
BF will be dropping me off and picking me up on the night so....come 15th Feb I will be having a night out, all paid for with free taxi service as well

Well done LA on kicking out the cc debt. You'll soon have the OD where you want it, GONE!

Well that's January out of the way then....
On the one hand I am very glad as it means getting closer to next pay day (and the one after that!) and then, on the other hand, I feel guilty for seemingly wishing time away. That's not right.
Suddenly I feel like a dullard.
What's the matter with me? Surely I have more brains and imagination than this? I should be looking for ways to squeeze every bit of joy out of each day for free or as little as possible.
Why should January be *that* bad?
OK that's it, January 2008 will be BETTER. I shall make it my personal challenge to have many free or cheap things lined up to make January a pleasant and enjoyable month.
Anyway moving on...
The Weekend Cometh!
I have a busy weekend planned but it's gotta be done on a shoe string budget. (So what's new?)
Out tomorrow to see a band. I'm getting a lift to town, got the tickets already and they are paid for. Just leaves needing a few quid for a few drinks (just to be social) and a tenner for the taxi home. I'm hoping no more than £20. Doable for sure.
Saturday BF & I are out with his parents for a celebratory meal. BF said he would pay but I will contribute something even if it's only a tenner or so and I am going to drive so no taxi fares or alcohol spends there.
Sunday - grocery shopping day...frugal as usual, will report back on the Moozie weekly thread on Sunday!
I am off Monday & Tuesday with BF (his birthday) and we may pop out of the day for him to go and see an exhibition but hopefully that is free bar the petrol and I think he's got a full(ish) tank anyway.
So, I have £40 in my purse to last till Wednesday morning! Should be ok, I know there are people struggling with that for the rest of the month. Mind you, to be honest I won't be spending more than that this month with any luck except grocery shopping (where I write cheques and pray that they lose them) and bus fare to work.
Money Boxes
I have discovered the joy of money boxing again! I thought I had given this up aged 11 but apparently not!
I have an old hot chocolate jar which I have labelled "Emergency Bus Fare". Each time a kind colleague stops at the bus stop (if they go by before my bus arrives) and gives me a lift, I put the money (or at least two thirds of it) into the jar. This means I can build up a fund for when I am painfully skint and can't bear the thought of going to the speed bank. At least I can still get to work. So far I have about £8 in there which is just over one week's worth of fares.
The other money box I used to save for my dance ticket. I have decided to use that for saving for a night out I have planned for 30th March. I'll be out for a pizza and a few glasses of vino to celebrate her birthday and my birthday (30th March falls slap bang between the two). So any change I have left over from budgeted things that have come to less, will be going in that money box. Whatever I save will be a very handy contribution to the evening.
Bills
Well the electricity bill came in yesterday....£80. But it was slightly over estimated so I have phoned through the actual reading and will pay the new bill at the same time as the gas bill so, they'll both get paid for the third week in February when I get paid. Hopefully they won't have cut me off by thenBank Balance: In the black for the moment.

January just IS that bad. I've said for many years that it's the wrong month the start the year and each year it just gets worse.
Whine over. Welcome to February - the *new* official start to the year.
I've emptied out my money box - that shrapnel has come in useful just lately. Once I get details of when the new job starts and when I get paid I might review it.
Loving your ramblings, LA! Keep 'em coming! What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -
I've got something finishing on EBAY in about 6 minutes and there are a number of people "watching" it but only one bid.
This item is worth *so* much more than the minimum/starting bid....is it normal to sit there screaming at your PC "Come on BID don't just !!!!!!!g WATCH!!"
????
Maybe not.
I'm hormonal, I'll blame that.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
