HBOS ISA Direct Reward not available?

Hi all

Just tried applying for the HBOS ISA Direct Reward which is advertised on this site as the top for transferring in old ISAs.

Filled in the bulk of the application form only to be told that this product is not available to open right nowm and pointing me towards a page listing the currently available products... which included the same product I had just been told was unavailable

Wondering if anyone has any more info on this?

There was someone on here a few days ago who encountered the same as you ... I think it was a cookies/browser issue, so try clearing the cache and/or using a different web browser, and try again.

I'm seeing the same issue today - numerous attempts to open the account, clearing cookies/cache, and using every browser I have, with no success.

Would somebody know whether this is likely to be a bank holiday thing, rather than the offer having been pulled?

    Tried ringing them?
....Alternatively, call us today on 0845 850 2582 (lines open 8am-8pm Mon-Fri, 8am-6pm Sat and 9am-5pm Sun) or pop into your nearest Halifax branch

I did assume that their contact centres would be closed on the bank holiday. And as I'm doing it for somebody, I can't really open it by phone. Getting to the local branch isn't a hardship if it comes to that.

Still saying it's not available tonight. Guess it could have been withdrawn, but you'd think if it had the website could say that before letting you fill in your details...

    Try using a different computer.

Hmmm.. not sure why that would make a difference really. After submitting the information on the initial page the website does a check and returns a message saying
'ISA Direct Reward is available for limited periods only and is not available to open at this current time'
not sure how using a different computer would change the message that is being returned by their servers.

And yes, I'd already tried using different browsers and clearing the cache on them all at home last night when it repeated didn't work before I posted, plus I'd tried without success on computer at work before that!

There are alternative ways of opening the account, which you may wish to try:
Alternatively, call us today on 0845 850 2582 (lines open 8am-8pm Mon-Fri, 8am-6pm Sat and 9am-5pm Sun) or pop into your nearest Halifax branch.

My next option is to try in branch as that will be easier to sort out the transfer forms in one visit, but what I was trying to find out is have they actually withdrawn the ISA account completely and not just online. I know it doesn't sound like a hardship to go to an acutal branch but my 'local' one is still around a 30 mile round trip!

Is ringing them to find out too difficult?

If it had been withdrawn, it's unlikely that it would still be on their website - http://www.halifax.co.uk/savings/accounts/cash-isas/isa-direct-reward/?!!!!!isas_home_banner

LOL, just as I was planning on going to local branch this moring to try and sort this out, and guess what.... post arrives from Halifax with confirmation of the new ISA I've opened. I guess the website was accepting the information after all and was just failing to give the correct response.

Now, after all the failed attempts I made to try and open the account online, I would how many more accounts they've opened for me. :rotfl:

PS. Didn't want to bother phoning as I wanted to sort the transfer forms out at the same time and either get them in the post or handed in straight away.
