Hi,
I have recently been mail dropped by a very unprofessional outfit called PlusNet offering me cheap broadband. They say they have written to me because I have a relationship with B.T. I am signed up to all the "opt out" things to stop me getting this garbage. I contacted B.T. who tell me they have no relationship with PlusNet. Do they need reporting to Trading Standards?

Thanks for that. Oh dear - I include the E Mail I received from BT customer services, just for fun:-
"I would like to inform you that we at BT do not provide any customer information to any other provider. You information is secured in our records. There are some companies taking BT’s name to get customer bank details. I can assure you that we have not provided any information of your account details. However, I also request you to not to give out any information to them in future. I can assure you that we are not linked with Plusnet.
Please let me know if I can help with anything else.
Thank you for contacting BT."
The letter from PlusNet was appalling - the Valediction, instead of the appropriate "Yours Sincerely" was "Cheers".
Hey Ho - Maybe I'm getting old.....0 -

BT Retail don't have any direct relationship with Plusnet, however the BT group owns them both.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Went throuh the same thing with BT after joining them for our business phone and broadband. Started getting lots of junk cold calls and the name being asked for showed this info could only have come from BT. Finally, after months of arguing they admitted that our info had been passed to 'select' companies despite us opting out.
Having said that, Plusnet are reputable and under the same umberella as BT.0
