I've just bought a Panasonic TX-28PM1 FlatScreen with stand from Comet Online for under £274 delivery free. This is a Which? Best Buy and Panasonic are above average in Which? reliability surveys. Only JVC and Sony have the same reliability rating. Buying from Comet online is cheaper and any warranty problems are handled by local stores.if i had known then what i know now0

Got ours on Friday. Was delivered when promised.
Lovely looking TV and stand, and managed to put it all together all by myself!
Nice quality, sounds lovely, not overly impressed with the picture quality though. Does anybody recommend perhaps getting some better leads (perhaps aerial leads)?
Not sure what else I can try t see if maybe it's just the reception or rubbish leads causing the image to be a little less impressive than I would have expected??0 -

Apparently quality of the scart leads can make a big difference. Ours have gold connections and OFC (oxygen free copper??) wires. They cost a bit more (Currys do them for £25 but I got ours for about a tenner off ebay).
Also, if you have a sky box make sure that as per the manual, you are connecting it to the ext1 scart (the bottom one of the two) which delivers RGB signals (don't ask as I don't know what it means!). I noticed it made a considerable difference to the picture when I connected sky to that one instead of the top one.
Although now rereading your post I'm not sure you're using scarts at all - are you just plugging aerial into the back of the telly ie not via other equipment? Guess it is something to do with reception or the cabling in that case.0 -
It's also worth noting, if you don't have digital tv, it's not really worth getting a widescreen tv imho.
I am on telewest digital, and I have the box set to widescreen. Through the main aerial, the picture isn't that good at all.0 -
Hi folks, thanks for the feedback.
I have a digital TV box connected ad also my DVD and VCR. All are connected together via scarts & aerial cables.
I have been told that more expensive cables will give a better picture so will keep an eye out for them and see what they do....
Cheers for the help though! Appreciated!0 -
Ordered the TV and stand after reading all the information.
On the orders page it automatically defaults to a delivery date, but cleverley adds an EXTRA surcharge of £5.99 on top of the £18.
However, I did not accept their date, but went for the standard one two days later, and guess what. They upgraded the delivery to the earlier date free of charge.
One minor negative for ebuyer though.
The stand had two parts the same, i.e. the front legs were both right handed instead of one left and one right side.
When I finally got an email to ebuyer they said send the whole lot back, TV and all and they would send another one.
They were incapable of replacing just the simple part I wanted.
They finally agreed to collect the whole lot, but would not deliver a new TV and stand at the same time!
It really is an all too familiar case of a company setting its sytems up for its own benefit, rather than for the benefit of the customer.
TV is great and picture fantastic.Filiss0 -

Not true.
Widescreen TV is perfect for watching DVDs as they are pretty much all anamorphic widescreen. Let's face it, everyone has a DVD player these days now that they are readily available for less than £30.BE NICE - IT'S FREE!0
