Found this one http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=5920931229&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X3NwZWNpZmljYXRpb25z&product_uid=77723 on ebuyer at a cheaper price of £219.99 inc VAT. Anyone know the main difference? Is this one inferior, it comes with a stand too.0

I think the cheaper one is a virtual flat screen type of thing and the other is a real flat screen.0

In response to your enote, while you received free shipping, due to the size of the item, the courier has a surcharge on bulky or large items. You would have paid this surcharge whether your shipping was free or paided shipping.
Thank you for you understanding in this matter
Kind Regards,
Ebuyer Support
Thanks for your reply, I understand why the surcharge is being made but think your website is misleading by advertising the TV as having free shipping. Clearly £18 is not free, whether it is a surcharge or whatever! The item is advertised as costing £259.99 with free shipping.
Doesn't this contravene trading standards?
Thank you for contacting our Support Team.
Shipping charges and Surcharges are two different types of shipping charges the courier imposes.
We offered the free shipping as we pay for the free shipping promotion. We did not offer free surcharges. If we did it would have posted as Free shipping and surcharges.
Kind Regards,
Ebuyer Support
Don't think too much of that explanation, especially as they then closed the enote!!
Have copied the exchange to my local trading standards office to see what they think.
Interestingly if you up the delivery to priority express delivery the SURCHARGE goes up to £23.00 and normal priority up to £19.25 and Saturday delivery an astounding £46.00 . I have ordered one of these which should be with me on Friday on the Supersaver, but I would doubt ebuyers explanation. The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.0 -

It also had a leaflet inside for a 5 year or so extention on the tube, where philips replace the tube for free, for a one off payment of £19.95 or something. So we've done this.0 -
Well it arrived yesterday and is all set up. It really is a superb tv for the price. We previously were renting a 32 inch sanyo widescreen with a rrp of around £600 and this one is far superior with regard to both picture and sound quality. Very happy.
To add insult to injury, further to my previous posts about the £18 shipping surcharge, the city link courier turned up and told me it was too heavy for him to lift on his own, nor did he have a trolley. Mr purplepatch was at work, so I had to help him in with it and it weighed a bloody ton. What a cheek - £18 and I had to carry it in myself. What would have happened if I was a little old dear I wonder?
Anyway, I did report ebuyer to trading standards for false advertising, but I somehow doubt I'll be hearing any more. Seems the world and his wife are reporting ebuyer to TS at the moment - see the samsung grabbit gone thread, so my complaint is probably sitting in a pile of hundreds!
But despite the delivery problems the TV itself is great. Thanks to Seth, the original poster.0 -
yes many thx to OP a great tv. I have tried to wire up my vcr the old fashioned way - just the aerial cable to back of tv. However it appears i'm going to need a scart lead ...can anyone suggest where i might get a decent low cost one please??
Thanks again to the OP0 -
If it's any help Tesco et al have a range of fully wired scart leads for £2-3. One even has gold contacts. Probably not audiophile quality, but more than adequate for a VCR and more robust than some scarts I've seen.

I have used this link previously to buy such items and found them good to deal with. Hope it works for you!

So let me get this straight:
Shipping + Surcharge =
28PW6008: 4.79 + 10.80 = 15.59
28PW6008C: 5.99 + 11.10 = 17.09
28PW6518C: 0.00 + 18.00 = 18.00
Well they are definitely being economical somewhere... :rolleyes:0 -
Recieved ours on Friday, very impressed, lovely clear picture and tremendous sound quality, really good bass. Mrs Doozer doesn't like how long it takes to start up though from pressing the button.......
.......she says that about other things too thoughThe early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.0
