Thanks for this seth. This seems a good deal particularly when you read the exceptional reviews. I have gone ahead and ordered. Slightly nervous ordering from ebuyer as they get plenty of negative press - have never used them before. Anyway, fingers crossed.

One thing of note is that although they say that delivery is free, there was actually a shipping supplement of £18 to pay. Still a good deal when you compare to others though.

Thanks again. Will report back when all is up and running.

Don't wory they are very good, jsut follow the returns procedure and report faulty items. Also sign for goods as unchecked: Write the word UNCHECKED next to your signature when you sign for the item.

I order from them all the time never a problem, the odd worng item but I buy 100s of items a month. Excellent.
    Seth.

    Yep. :(
    I paid:

Shipping method: Super Saver at £6.60

    Net total: £206.59
    VAT total: £36.16
    Gross total: £242.75

But like I said, it's a top tv, and with the cabinet, which we were going to pay £60-£90 alone for (Not as nice either, didn't have glass shelves where we looked!).
I'm pleased as punch with the tv. :D:p

They may be able to advise you and contact ebuyer on your behalf!

Just wondered how this deal compares. Probably not that well as I don't think it's flat screen.

It's a Toshiba 28" WS with stand in the LX Direct sale, catalogue £284.99, now £259.99 delivered, installed and demonstrated.

I've also been sent a 10% discount code (non-transferable, sorry!). So what do you think at around £224?

I've had a reply to my enote! Hmmmm.

"Thank you for contacting our Support Team.

In regards to your query on free shipping offer.

Our Free Shipping will always be valid on "SUPER SAVER" Shipping. You must select that type of shipment to receive the free offer.

When you view the item you wish to purchase in Ebuyer.com, click on the BUY button. You are offered various shipping methods with the price charged for that particular item. It will adjust your total for that item and show the actual shipping charges in the column totals.

If free shipping is offered it will show zero charges for shipping .Free Delivery restrictions may apply to some postcodes."

Hmmm, clear as mud! I did select super saver and it came up as Shipping Band £0.00, but underneath it says Shipping Surcharge £18. I have enoted back to point this out and have asked them to clarify further.

If no joy with that I will contact local trading standards as seth suggests. Any pointers as to where I will find their contact details?

Thank you for contacting our Support Team.

In response to your enote, while you received free shipping, due to the size of the item, the courier has a surcharge on bulky or large items. You would have paid this surcharge whether your shipping was free or paided shipping.

Thank you for you understanding in this matter

    Kind Regards,

    Ebuyer Support

Thanks for your reply, I understand why the surcharge is being made but think your website is misleading by advertising the TV as having free shipping. Clearly £18 is not free, whether it is a surcharge or whatever! The item is advertised as costing £259.99 with free shipping.
    Doesn't this contravene trading standards?

Thank you for contacting our Support Team.

Shipping charges and Surcharges are two different types of shipping charges the courier imposes.

We offered the free shipping as we pay for the free shipping promotion. We did not offer free surcharges. If we did it would have posted as Free shipping and surcharges.

    Kind Regards,

    Ebuyer Support

Don't think too much of that explanation, especially as they then closed the enote!!

Have copied the exchange to my local trading standards office to see what they think.
  • Yes, it's that sort of customer service that has earned Ebuyer the wonderful reputation that they have today.. ;) Price is still a good one though, even with the £18 on top. I must admit I'm almost tempted to treat the folks with a (very!) late Xmas present.

  • I'll be gutted if I find out that I wasn't suppose to be charged Shipping Surcharge! But I guess nowt I could do about it now anyways!!
What I don't get is why it's £18? Mine was much less than that, and it's the same tele, albeit yours will be flatter! :p

Oops, didn't mean to quote... but I didn't see the next e-note. Fair do I guess..

Eh? Paided? This would be?:D

Mmm, I noticed that too  .

To be honest I'm not expecting to get anywhere with it, but thought I'd try trading standards when Seth suggested it. Had it been £6 I probably wouldn't have bothered to be honest, but £18 is more than Comet charge for full price delivery of the same telly!

And like you say, why is my surcharge £12 more than yours was. That flat screen is obvious extremely weighty ;)
