It is best to have more than one current account.

If OH has been mistreated, make a written complaint and ask for compensation. If you are not happy with Barclays response, close the account.

Sound advice, but my hubby is too laid back to manage more than one account! As a result he will have to bear any inconvenience...

Nah, wouldn't say "mistreated", just !!!!!!!!ted! And apart from this issue, he is quite happy with Barclays (last 3 years) so it should be all good when new card arrives.
  • My barclays card was also retained by a halifax atm 2 weeks ago.I called them to let them know...then the next day I went to the bank where they told me that it was because of a transfer from one of my customers..that it's unusuall to receive that amount in my account....I asked the lady that transfered me the money to go to the bank to confirm the transfer and she did...4 times already...but they say it's not confirmed...Eventualy they gave me this number,I gave it to the lady..she phoned..2 times...and still not confirmed!
What else do I have to do?! are they really that incompetent?!I need my card..and the money!
Can anybody give me an advice or smth?

    I can!

Go to your Barclays branch, report the card as lost, stolen or damaged and request a new one. This is what my husband had to do; only received his new card yesterday because the 1st operator he spoke with "forgot to order a new card"!

As for the amount paid in by one of your customers, it may be subject to a fraud check first - if it is over a certain amount - before being 'released' to your account. Is it a personal or business account?
