Creditors Calling ....

After so many months of telephone calls pre-BR I started taking their calls from the day on my BR onwards to tell them I was BR - it was very satisfying.

When does a debt cease too be our"s..i thought it was when we officaly went BR..?
You cease to have any provable debts the instant the Judge signs the BR papers!
It really is irrelevant in the greater scheme of things if a creditor [I use the term loosely] was ignored, overlooked, or simply chooses to be ignorant, of your BR.
Court action?
Bring it on!No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
The kids are out for the day with their grandparents tommorrow, so I might pluck up the courage to answer any calls that come through tommorrow (though weirdly, they tend to call from Wednesday to Sunday???) and face up to it!'Don't judge me 'till you have walked a mile in my shoes'0

hi.nothing to face up to now...you're 'untouchable' now so you can wind them up to whatever pitch suits you.
BR actually 'puts you in charge' of the situation......certainly regarding phone calls and letters.
have fun!No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
Before we got our bankruptcy order (it arrived in the post yesterday)- I felt the same, that I needed to "face up" to answering the phone.
I don't actually see the point- as answered a call yesterday afternoon, and spoke to someone from an Indian call centre.
It took several attempts to get through to him that I HAD filed for BR and had my copy of the order.
He then said that my details would remain in the collections dept (I assume for more calls to come!), as although I could give the case number, court name, and the addresss for the OR office- he also needed the name of the IP.
I explained that we had had no contact from them yet, so didn't have a name- so that wasn't enough for them!!!
So a waste of time giving him the info from the order.
I had to spell everything to him, which in itself was a struggle AND I could hear the call centre staff singing Happy Birthday to someone!!! They are so not worth my time when they don't take me seriously, so won't be in a rush to pick up the phone again!0 -
I went BR back in November, and I used to dread hearing the phone ring. Especially when it was ringing up until 9pm every single night.
However, from the day I went BR, i found it quite easy to answer the phone. For about 5 weeks the phone would continually ring every night when I got home from work, and I used to pick the phone up and be quite polite. Simply told the caller that I was now BR and to stop calling me. I would then put the phone down.
After about 6 weeks the calls immediately stopped, and I haven't had a single creditor ring me since. The silence is spooky!
It probably takes a while for the OR to contact all the creditors.:)0 -
Kes - all they need is your BR Order number. They can check the Insolvency Service website for all other details they may want. At the end of the day it should be enough that you've gone BR, but it often seems not to be as I'm sure they have training to tell them to keep hassling cos some will pay up!
So just give them your BR Order number and tell them to check the IS website to confirm you are BR, then hang up.When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

Not many people get a seperate IP, so that could take some explaining0 -

The Lloyds TSB Collections Centre in India is a cunning one - it doesnt come through as an overseas number, or even a cold calling number - it shows as a 'proper number' 01273 ..... I only know its them because I googled the number on Who Calls Me! Their collections centre is the only department still in India apparently.'Don't judge me 'till you have walked a mile in my shoes'0
