I went BR on 28/03 - 3 weeks ago on Monday.
I am still getting lots of calls - particularly Lloyds TSB (mind you, if someone owed me what I owe them I would be phoning!). Their call centre in India is calling at least 6 times a day - even on Sundays.
I dont answer the calls, and have turned my ringer off.
First Direct have written to acknowledge BR (overdraft and CC) - how come Lloyds TSB havent - is it because I dont have a bank account with them, just CC's?
Should I answer the calls? I havent wanted to, because I dont want the kids overhearing anything (particularly my 7 year old, who will repeat and ask questions).
Advice, as always GREATLY appreciated
Thanks

I think it can take a number of weeks for the OR to inform all creditors SL so I guess the calls may continue for a little while longer. I would try and answer the Lloyds TSB one and give them your BR order no and OR details, maybe when kids are in bed?. It may get them off your back hopefully. Someone else may have a better suggestion.0

You could always try writing to them yourself with a copy of the BR order, instructing them to contact the OR and cease calling you?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

We had loads of calls from LloydsTSB (India) they will ask you a security question I presume. In the end we got fed up of telling them to call the IP.
My wife refused to answer the question and they had to stop the call.
In the end I used to play with them, like give them the wrong security answer, ask them to PROVE who they were or tell them to send a letter.
My favorite was to ask them to hold on and put them next to a radio.
They are persistant so you have to find your way of dealing with it.

Inform your OR and make them aware and write a letter with BR details.
Having said that they might just ignore you as Reliable collections have with my wife despite numerous times giving BR details and this being on there system, letters with BR details and telephone harassment letter.
 Now there threatening court action.
So just be aware not all companies give a hoot about BR/OR or the law....but keep smiling.0

Stuart it might be fun to let them take you to court and watch the judge give them a rollocking.
The OR has 8 weeks to inform the your creditors of your BR and some institutions take longer to filter the info than some.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

oooh, yes...as Tiggers feet says....don't tell 'em anything, let them rant on, and push for a court appearance.
Maybe turn up for the hearing, then put in a claim for expenses....?

I had calls for about 2 months after BR I just never answered until one day I got a call at work on the office line, the guy tried to tell me it was against the law and he would apply to get the money taken directly from my wages! I laughed and hung up on him. Best thing is to just ignore them, dont answer, put thier mail straight in the bin without opening it, they cant do anything now. It all stopped after about 3 months, never heard a thing from anyone, including the OR.0

After 9 weeks post BR date I would forward any letters to the OR and inform them of any continued calls too. Before that it's not really fair to hassle the OR about it.
I think some ORs wait until after your interview to write to creditors anyway, it certainly appears that most members continue to be chased for several weeks before things start to calm down.
I just smile and file at the moment whenever I receive another chasing letter. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN
