Accessing a SIM card
Hello,
I've got a locked Orange standard sized SIM card from my iphone. The iphone in question is now totally bust and I'm not insured, but I don't have long left until the end of my contract and i accept that I'm totally at fault etc etc so I've been and bought a new phone from a different network.
Obviously you are thinking i'm already quite dumb to have an uninsured iphone but it gets worse because i never backed up my Sim to the computer either
.
Is there some miracle way that I can get hold of the list of contacts numbers that are on my old Orange iphone SIM? Could I take the SIM to an Orange shop and might they be able to read it for me and stick it on a memory stick or something?
It's amazing that I'm allowed out in the daytime without a carer isn't it?

By Locked I assume you mean the sim is locked to orange not the sim is SIM locked and you have forgot the PIN.
First consider unlocking the new phone so you can put the sim in it, may only cost a tenner or so at a market stall, maybe free on the web.
Any orange phone should be able to read it. Depending on the phones you may be able to bluetooth it all across.
Orange stores should be able to read it, I think Carphone warehouse used to have a system that could read and print out contacts, or you can get a sim reader cheaply on fleabay or a market.
However most phones don't store contacts in the SIM but in the phone, you may find the contacts have been lost unless you synced them anywhere. Personally mine sync to Gmail more because it's a PITA to copy them each time I get a new phone but it does mean they are backed up somewhere.0 -
Oooh that was all most helpful, thanks - I'm off to investigate!0

Hi nonnatus,
If the SIM is actually locked and won't work in another Orange Branded phone the only other way to retrieve some of the numbers would be to request a copy Itemised Bill. This will show you the numbers you have made calls or texts to so your most regular contacts will be on there, however it wont show names just the numbers.
Hope this helps!
