  • They phoned my grandmother up and she told me, she did not get scammed and she gave me their web address and me being a computer technician and part-time web developer phoned them and gave them a piece of my mind, I told them they were a problem and they said were not a scam and with that I lost my temper threatened them with sql injection and all sorts and then he said as you are being offencive i'm gonna end the call and yeah that was it basically
  • Waste their time and play them along , use
http://www.fakenamegenerator.com/gen-male-en-uk.php to make a fake profile with name and visa card number etc , obviously the card number will fail when they enter it but keep insisting it's right and they try again.;)

    What a Brilliant idea,
I try my hardest to keep them on the phone for a long as possible. I recon the longer Im talking to them, the less chance they can scam others especially the elderly.

Im going to try your idea next time, and Im sure they will phone again in the next couple of days as I get 2 calls a week right now.

I just wish I could trace there calls, or send an official complain somewhere but where?
  • I've just had 'Craig' on the phone telling me my 'window is corrupt', I asked him which window and he replied 'your computer window' - that made me a little suspicious......... We had a brief conversation where he wanted me to open event log and I told him I didn't want to, he eventually gave me a phone number to contact and, surprise surprise, when I phoned the number I got through to 'Ian' from helppconline.com. Their number is 08082802518. Maybe we should all be calling them when we have a problem with our PCs .... ?

2 ways to sort out these people:

1 - Use the 'someone at the door, just a moment please' as mentioned earlier. I used to employ this one for sales calls as well. Works with cold calls, I once had a Double-glazed windows guy on the line for 23 minutes, then informed him that he had wasted his time, not mine, but sorry I had to go out now, enjoyed his call.

2 - An old lady friend of my mum's, some years ago, had a perv ringing her up. I have a particularly piercing whistle and all phones have a certain amount of amplification. I gave her the whistle, next time she heard the perv, she blew it into his shell-like. Did the trick, and works if you cannot get them to hang up, and/or become abusive.

But of course the best of all methods is to hang up immediately. No real point in arguing with these people, they are in a bad place and desperate to make money. However I sometimes say "I'm having a bad day, would you like to share it?"
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.
