good evening there all.

i have a query on how much gas i've used.

i put my boiler on at 6.05pm this evening to heat both water and central heating (need to dry clothes and its raining)

the meter reading was

2601 (0) being red and 0 being a printed 0 doesnt change

so 2601 0 0 ft3

at 10.05 i checked the meter and it states the following

2602 5 0 ft3

can some 1 tell me please what the usage is in kwh / units

calorifical value according to latest bill is 39

any 1 help

if it seem's high its due to old back boiler

    found the following website

http://www.energylinx.co.uk/gas_meter_conversion.html from a old post of mine

    is my usage 1.5 (2601 - 2602 50)?? which turns out to be 47kwh / 11.75kwh

Your useage is 1.5 imperial units = approx 47 kWh. An imperial unit = approx 31.3 kWh.

    (units used x 1.022640 x cal val x 2.83 )/ 3.6

thanks for advising, any idea what a little clock is for at the end of dial? just looks like a normal clock moves very slowly and has 0.5 below it or above it?

    Hi,

think this is your type of meter, so stuck a photie up for you, helps to make things a bit clearer.

Looks to me as though the clock dial is giving 100th of a unit, and is replacing the static red.

    Meter reading is : 4762.3 [STRIKE]0[/STRIKE] 6

It will go round 10 times before it changes.

  • Hi,

    yup, 1 full cycle is only 1/10th of 1/10th of a unit, = 1/100th, so 10 revs.

so the cost then of having the heating on 4 hours is 47kwh * 4.8p (per unit upto x ammount)

    equaling 4.8*47 = 225.6p £2.25?

I would change my supplier, on eon saveonline 6 that would cost £1.45
