Fix it.
Thats the attitude I took with my 170,000 mile Mondeo! Too good to bin off. when it doesn eventually stop i'll just strip it down and flog this bits. Get £200 for the leather! £150 for the wheels. Etc...0 -
Can I ask how long you have left on the MOT? if you are looking to buy a new car, some companies are still doing swappage schemes, take Kia for example, they offer £2000 for your old car against a new one0

Hi Frags,
Got about a month left on the MOT. Don't need to swap for anything it though as the Mondeo is a second car. Thanks for the tip though.0 -

IME these schemes are poor value and you can negotiate cash prices close to the swappage price.0 -
On a 53 plate car maybe u could get close but not with an MOT of that lenth with that many advisories, how can swapping an P reg fiesta for example that is worth a few hundred quid for £2000 and a car with a 7 year warranty not be a good deal???0

We have an 03 plate Mondeo 1.8, great car, we had an advisory that the brake discs were corroded ( we are low mileage too) but it didn't fail, it's just something they have to report to you.
Our Mondeo went in for it's biannual handbrake change and they replaced a caliper and the brakes, no mention of doing the discs though the MOT was 9 months ago.
The only thing we've needed done since we bought the car at a year old are the brakes - that flipping handbrake cable design has cost us hundreds over the years!Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
Balance 19th April '07 = minus £27,640
Balance 1st November '09 = mortgage paid off with £1903 left over. Title deeds are now ours.0 -

Kia Picanto 1.0 '1'
Swappage price £5370 OTR
Cash price I paid £5550 OTR
So that £2000 is actually £180 - good deal?0 -
Rio 2 £8545 OTR £2000 swappage £6545 does make it a good deal. Picanto 2 is now £8595 OTR or £8095 if u dont have a swap, making it £7095, swappage isnt available any more on the Picanto 1, if you got one for £5550 OTR then granted you had a good deal as non swappage Picanto 1's are now £5995 OTR0

"£300 from an acquaintance", your right there, he's no friend offering silly money for one of the most popular (deservedly), low mileage cars around!0

They were only advisories.
Inspect (or get someone to inspect for you).
Chances are nothing needs doing. (except that EGR warning light)
Use the car a bit first to remove the corrosion from the brake discs - else it could fail on braking performance."Now to trolling as a concept. ....
