hi there
We are currently with AOL (contract due to expire in June this year) and also the same with BT.
I have just called BT today to inform them that we have bought a house today and would like a line connecting asap - they can't come out until 4th May though which is a bit rubbish (and will cost £130)
I subsequently called AOL to see if they could sort out broadband connection ready for 4th May (I am a bit dumb when it comes to technical stuff so thought this may have been possible?) but they told me that i had to call back once the phone line was activated at which point they would do transfer my broadband which will take a further 7 to 10 days.
Is the 7 to 10 day timeframe because AOL will be moving the service from one address to another or simply standard?
Does anyone know if it would be quicker to change to a different internet provider and if we did would that make it quicker to activate?
Also, does anyone know what charges i would incur should i terminate my contract with AOL early?
Sorry if these are silly questions guys and thanks in advance!

It does not matter who you go to for broadband, you will need a landline installed first.
Irrespective of the company you use it will always be BT Open reach engineers who will do the installation and exchange work.
In other words you won't get it quicker by using a different provider. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Im pretty sure plusnet are only 49.99 installation or thats what we paid and they are bt anyway but with better deal on prices and with a 3 month free internet if referred ,worth a check0
