Hi,
I need to move away from NTL for my Broadband as I have the same IP in every session.
I have a BT line so I can go for anything, cost is key of course, therefore, can any one recomend the, however, I really do need broadband that gives me a differant IP address when rebooting the router.
Any ideas....?

Why do you specifically want a dynamic IP?
You may sign up with an ISP that uses dynamic IP addressing, but their DHCP server could cache the client ID for any period of time and issue you with the same IP address even when you reboot your router.0 -

Security/privacy I imagine. It amazes me that more people don't insist on a dynamic IP. It just makes you that much harder to track online. Of course if someone is really determined they'll find a way, but why make it easy for them.0 -

There's really not much that can be done by just having your IP address0 -

There's no added privacy from having a dynamic IP. The only people who can get your personal details from your IP are your ISP and relevant authorities who get a warrant.
You can trace the IP whether it's dynamic or static. Just because it changes it doesn't necessarily make you any safer. If you have proper security on your PC/router, it shouldn't matter.0 -
I love my AOL dynamic IP.
Wipe cookies,
tell my router to disconnect for a couple of seconds,
I'm a whole new person
I've actually found Aol to be not too bad since I got my router and stopped having to have the software on my computer.
Don't know if I'd recommend them though since so many people have bad experiences0 -
Some download sites will only allow so much download per hour per IP address. Some users disconnect and reconnect to get new IP to get more downloads....0

For various reasons I'd rather have a static IP - mainly so I can connect to my home network when away if I wanted/need to.
An IP alone doesn't identfy you as a person unless somebody knows *you* and your associated static IP. Having a dynamic IP could assist in you download data from sites such as Rapidshare when the FREE accounts restrict data by IP withoin certain time frames. Being able to go back with a different IP can get around the problem as long as yoiu don't end up with the IP of the bloke down the road that has just done the same and you end up with each others !
I don't really follow the dynamic IP is "safer" line - if I had a dynamic IP I could end up being assigned an IP for one or more sessions that is has in the past been used for illegal activites.

Or some might say the identity of the previous user of your new IP

There was a whole thread on another site about this involving the RIAA and filesharing... They filed lawsuites against 11 people from somewhere that had a time difference of 2 hours but the ISP didnt take this into account and gave details of the people who had inherited the IP as well as the ones they were after. In all 6 of the 11 were wrongly accused. . Of course because of the ISP's mistake they decided to charge the downloaders with using thier connection for illegal activities as well so a double wammy because of a time difference.0

Thanks for your replies guys, to answer the question of why...
Well, I need to have differant online account accounts where they are restricted to one per IP address.
So far I have only seen AOL whom can do this, however, it seems thier Broadband is not much cop.
Any others guys...:beer:0
