Mentally unstable taking out multiple contracts
I hope you guys can give some advice. A friend of mine has always had a thing about gadgets but over the last year or so has taken out many phone contracts. Over the last month or so his health has got worse and the doctors discovered that he is suffering from Obsessive-compulsive disorder. So whilst he knew he was taking the contracts out he could not help himself. Is it just a case of paying the contracts off or is there a way of getting them canceled due to his state of mind ?

Don't think signing up to mobile contracts is covered by OCD. If there is a debit to be funded and which cannot be paid by the person, then seek debit advice and repayment options. Come to think of I have taken out a fair few contracts on instinct - hmmmm.....0

OCD can be a terrible affliction. I used to know a woman who divorced her husband because, among other things, he couldn't leave the house without checking every door and window three or more times to ensure they were locked.
Personally, I have to have the volume on gadgets set at either an even number or one divisible by five. Coincidentally, my sister is exactly the same.If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

Get hom to contact his local CAB, they should be able to offer him some resources for basicly talking to the phone companies. I think its more going to be a matter of pleading with them to cancel the contracts rather then legally having a get-out-clause.
I think also they may want to keep his name on some sort of list so he wasn't able to do this again, because unless he does stop its likely to go on to affect his credit rating which yes would make it harder for him to get a contract but can raise things like rates for paying back loans and similar. I'm sure he/you are already aware of this but its important to note to anyone else reading in similar circumstances.0
