Car Hire Deposit

Hi All,
I'm hoping someone can offer me some advice.
I'm going on a Sun holiday to France in June. I've been looking at hiring a people carrier for all of us to travel in.
The hire companies seem to want between £600 & £1000 deposit when you collect the car.
Does anybody know of any hire companies that do not require sucha big deposit. Or preferably no deposit at all. I don't mind paying a littlw extra for the rental. It's just that authorising a big deposit on my credit card would not leave me much room in case of an emergency.

Can't say for sure but any hire company is going to require a deposit for up to the value of the excess of the insurance cover. They are hiring you valuable asset and they want to be sure they can recover the excess on the insurance from your credit card cover should anything happen to the vehicle.
The only possiblity of not paying such a large deposit is if you take out the hire company's super insurance cover which will reduce the excess (maybe to zero). There still maybe some deposit required since there are usually exclusions to their super insurance.
Only problem with this is that the hire company's super insurance will add maybe £15 per day to the rental price of the car.0
