I think when they changed the laws a few years back, i think nearly all fence paint is water based now....and it doesnt last like it used to......
i brushed mine on, a 6" wallpapering brush, 3 coats didnt take long, though its a allomtment shed, so a odd run didnt bother me0 -

We used Wilko fence paint £4.48 for 5 litres and it's water based so it's safe for pets and children. We used it on our chicken coop and it looks lovelyNuts oh Hazelnuts:rotfl:0

I use cuprinol in rich oak and it's a nice dark brown and as you can see it's only £5 at the moment but you do need 2 coatsI would like to be a glow-worm.

Aldi fence care was not too thin but only in Dark Chestnut colour. I subsequently used a Homebase timber & shed care 9 L tub Dark oak. Not too thin & happy with coverage. Aldi also had a good set of wood care brushes for 2.99.0
