Great picture RainbowDrops!
My boyfriend (I hate hate hate the F word) proposed the day after my birthday this year. He made me a lovely meal and came into the lounge with a massive bunch of flowers and presented them as 'birthday flowers'. I was sat down and he'd got down on one knee but I didn't notice.
He said, 'And a birthday question - will you marry me?'. I said yes and only pointed out later that it was the day AFTER my birthday...0 -
my h2b and I had chatted about marriage, and even had some when we get married conversations but as far as I was concerned there was no rush etc.
One night I went out for dinner with a friend, and then he picked me up and at home installed me in the living room with the tv and a beer while he went upstairs "for a minute".
about 5 mins later he shouted down can you come up here please so I sighed grumpily (was watching something good lol) and went upstairs. He shouted I'm in the bedroom and I stomped in, thinking I bet he's only called me up here for a bit of how's yer father. Well he had literally 100 candles lit all over the room, and he got down on one knee and pulled out the most beautiful ring and said, will you be my wife. I think I nearly set myself on fire jumping up and down and squealing in excitement!carpe diem

My OH and I were together for 7 1/2 years and had talked about marriage a lot. He knew I wanted to pick out my own ring and we had gone to have a look at some jewellery shops around where we lived.
When we were in New York, he asked me if I wanted to go on a Horse and Carriage ride around Central Park. Halfway through the ride he turned around and start saying something (I can't remember because I was so shocked at the time) and he got out a ring and proposed. He was whispering because he didn't want the driver to hear. The ring was a £50 one that was a stand in until we could go to get a proper one.
The next day we went to Tiffanys in New York and I chose a ring there.
The day before we were going to take a train to Washington DC, his American credit card stopped working. They had put a fraud alert because of the ring purchase :rotfl:. If we hadn't realised until we were at the train station, it would have been very difficult.
I thought he was going to propose on our 5 year anniversary in Rome at an expensive restaurant we were at but I had to wait another 2 1/2 yearsMy OH proposed to me after 7 years, 7 months and 7 days (although he swore to me it wasn't on purpose!). I just calculated it and it is my 7 year 7 month 7 day anniversary today funnily enough

Hi,
We had a takeaway & a bottle of Asti on Valentine's night this year & once we had finished he cleared up & then appeared back with a bunch of red roses & went down on one kneeMarried the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.0 -
I still maintain I missed my proposal...
had been going out for 6 weeks and one evening sat in the pub he asked me if "marriage was something I wanted to do"...replied "yes at some point" and thought no more of it as I assumed it was one of those early test the water conversations you have....The following saturday he arrives at my parents house...to take me out shopping "for the ring"...apparently he assumed we were engaged after our conversation in the pub...
We married 15 months later and this year we celebrate 18 yearsfrugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

My OH proposed to me after 7 years, 7 months and 7 days (although he swore to me it wasn't on purpose!)
I came home from work ill at around midday and he told me to go to bed and if I needed anything to not move, but to text him so I could rest more (Bless him!)
I heard a lot of banging from downstairs but ignored it...
Anyways, I decided to get up and have a shower as I was feeling better and received a text from the OH telling me to come downstairs...
I did and saw a sign on the door explaining that he had thought long and hard about this and that when I walked through the door there would be no turning back... I opened the door, I saw a HUGE sign on the wall saying "will you marry me?" and he was sat there in candle light, with rose petals leading up to him at the table with the ring in between two bouquets of flowers and 2 candles. He got down on one knee and proposed... At this point I was very snotty and very teary, and to top it all off the ring fitted perfectly (and he had cooked us a meal!)
To me, he couldn't have done it any better, it was just the two of us and he had thought about it. When he tries to be lovely, he does it in style!
(Oh and just realised I have a little tear in my eye when remembering all of this!)
❤Planned our wedding, still planning lessons❤

I came home from visiting a uni friend one SUnday evening, his kids (11 and 8) were playing outside when I parked and usually they just wave and carry on playing but this time they raced in ahead of me and were super excited about something, OH was cooking chicken nuggets and chips for thier tea and he turned the oven off halfway though - I could tell something was going on but a hate being unnerved, then I walked into the kitchen and they were all stood there in a row, OH's daugher produced the ring from her pocked whilst they said in chorus "Will you marry us" I love this, as I am totally marrying all of them really so glad the kids were involved. Alot of people dont understand, saying that they would hate to be proposed to like that but I love it!!
The ring was my great grandmas which we had resized a few months earlier as I always maintained I wanted that ring for my engagement ring but I was still surprised!0 -

I think that's really sweet! :j0 -
We were in his rusty Datsun Cherry and he put in a cassette and told me to listen to the lyrics. It was I Wanna Marry You by Bruce Springsteen. Then he said, 'well?'
We'd only been going out for about a month and i'd just turned 18. I said yes, but we didn't tell anybody until we actually got engaged 7 months later. It'll be our silver wedding anniversary next year.

My OH and I have each been married before and he said hell would have to freeze over before he thought about getting hitched again. 2 years ago he said he was taking me away for my birthday in August but wouldnt say where - he tried to make out it was in England but I figured it wasnt and was convinced we were going over to Ireland. I only found out at the airport it was Switzerland. He secretly had booked 5 nights hotel, got train/boat/cable car passes and planned trips out each day. On my birthday itself he produced a huge rucksack from his case that he'd packed himself but was still mysterious about where we were going. We got a train that went up into the mountains and then onto the Jungfraugoch train that goes up through the Eiger and comes out in the snow on the mountain top. At that point he opened the rucksack to revewal new coat, hats, gloves, boots and took me out onto the plateau. He pointed out that as I hate the cold and am not good with heights this was probably hell for me...and it was all frozen over...then produced the ring. It takes a lot to leave me speechless but that did it...took me a while to remember to say yes. The ring is really a dress ring, amethyst as he knows I love purple and not at all costly...but as far as I'm concerned I got a brilliant 'rock' for my engagement, it just happened to be the Eiger
I always said he was hopeless at organising and in some ways had been dreading the holiday as I had no say in it at all but boy did he prove me wrong on that one!
