I did it, no assets as such but 2 children involved. Found all the info I needed online as well as the forms to fill in. To be fair mine was quite simple as we had been separated for 2 1/2 years and maintenance and visiting rights were already sorted out between us.
Printed out forms online, filled them in, took them to the court swore the affidavit and all processed without any problems, very easy.0 -
I did it myself too - but as everyone says, its simple if there's no conflict and no children involved - I went to Citizens Advice and they told me how to get the forms, and myself and ex had already agreed on how property / cars / possessions were being divided.
It was very cheap and easy, but this was about 10 years ago, so I'm not sure if the forms have changed at all.

Well the forms have been filled in and sent. Maintenance is through the CSA (I dont get anything he doesnt work!) and access is arranged between ourselves but he usually has them 1 week at Xmas, 5 days half term, 1 week at easter, 1 week summer hols and 5 days at autumn half term OR as and when he can be bothered! But this suits me as I couldnt care less if he saw the kids or not and I dont think the kids are bothered either as they are teenagers and prefer doing things with their mates rather than with us oldies. We dont have any property or assets so thats simple enough but I have requested part of his Army pension. I have also filled in the remission form so I might get some the of £340 back.Sealed Pot Challenge member #982

How much do solicitors charge for writing up the Consent Order to send to court for approval?

IIRC we used quickie-divorce. My ex arranged it... I just filled in the forms and paid for half of it. It was quite straightforward.
Edit: We did a clean break order too. Something you might like to consider.

I can't remember exactly but I think the decree nisi came through in just a few weeks. The quicker you get the forms in the less time it will take. The decree absolute was granted a couple of months later.
I think it depends on how busy the court is.0
