Hence why manufacturers place a speedometer in the instrument panel directly in front of you, to remove the need to judge your speed and reduce the risk of 'misjudging' how fast you're going.

The speedometers in smoother, quieter cars will read the same at 60mph just like rougher, louder cars will. :)

This i have to agree with

All cars no matter how new, or how smooth they drive, they all have speedo's fitted

I'm not claiming it as an excuse - I paid the fine, accepted I was in the wrong, adjusted my driving and haven't had a speeding ticket since.

However, the fact remains that there was a huge difference between the way the two cars handled at relatively low speeds, and I was used to driving an old banger rather than a modern car.

I do of course accept that I am less than perfect :D

    OP,

If you have a V5C in your name for the car, and no ticket arrived today then you are in the clear.

I did so much mileage at 56MPH in my 44 tonne articulated lorry that I used to automatically drive a car at the same speed in a NSL regardless of what car it was. There's a massive difference between the two.
