Hello,

Hoping someone can help me. I am currently with Vodafone on a contract which i took out in November 2010. I have a Desire HD. My DHD started deleting all my data and i lost lots of personal data such as calendar apts and files etc. I am quit technically literate so i went through all the re-sets etc myself. So i called up and it was no problem, new phone on its way and received the next day. I get that one and again few weeks later the problem reoccurs and i again phone up and new phone despatched right away and a note put on my account stating that i would receive the handset of my choice should this fail. Well you've guessed it...this one does the same. So i call up and am promised a phonecall from the manager this morning. Get no call by 7 so call back. Get a manager on the phone who states that its a repair only and point blank refuses anything else.
I make the point about my notes and she says that's strange but she can't honour it. I said that if i get a replacement i want something of equal value and suitable for business and personal use so the only option really is Iphone4. I am not an I-Phone fan but i feel there is nothing else of equal spec as i am now not willing to have a HTC (know others with other models with the same problem).
If i wanted a blackberry etc i would have one and it would be on a lower contract agreement as they were free on lower contracts at the time.

Where do i stand with this? All i want is a phone that works and for me to get the value i signed up to. I have 18 months of my contract left.

Any help very much appreciated it's getting stressful now.

Unfortunately the contract is for an air time agreement so how long or how much hat cost dosnt really dictate the phone they will or have to offer.

Seems silly that they would say one thing then later refuse it, but then a quick forum search of coda one customer service would lead me to think otherwise.

Basically voda have to repair, refund or replace, I would have thought by now they would have replaced it.

Just call them again and try speaking to someone else, remember to stay calm and after it all just follow their official complaints procedure.

In terms of a hand set the iPhone 4 is not the only one of a similar spec, I can think of half a dozen android hand sets with similar specs, and they will not replace for an iPhone, it costs them way more.

Good luck with whatever happens anyway and keep us posted.

If you were in my position what would you accept for the replacement? Just so I can research better see what suits my needs :)

I'm really not fussed about the Iphone tbh just wanted like for like if you know what i mean? I have paid aps on Android so would lose them if i went away from droid.

    Thanks for your help :)

    Nexus S.

Are you syncing your data to Google Calendar/Contacts etc? You can back up your data by accessing these on the web. My wife and I both have iPhones, and share access to Google Calenders, and I now back them up twice a week because of issues where appointments have disappeared.

Yea i back-up now i'm on the third handset. I shouldnt have to backup everyday though defeats the purpose really.

Looked at Nexus S and the Sony Xperia Arc too
  • At a guess I'd say samsung galaxy s, maybe one of the new HTC line up or the new sonys

Don't be put off by HTC , I had the normal desire and loved it, and find most of their phones to be of great quality and have great after care. Eg they update android versions faster than sammy, Sony and lg.

    All preference though :)

That's strange, I have the DHD and had no issues with it deleting data. Were you using the standard calender or a downloaded one? Had you synched it with anything?
Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug). ;)
