I pay monthly as it suits my budget - I don't think the savings are significant enough to pay it all upfront.

I have to agree with you, i don't think the savings are substantial enough to pay out in 1 lump sum- especially as i would only want to pay in 1 lump sum if i could stick it on my new 0% credit card.

Generally however i do for all other things (house/car insurance etc always pay the total up-front)

Me and the Mrs personally prefer to pay it all up front too, it gets it out of the way and at least we know there is nothing else to pay on it.

Sorry, but are you saying that I will or will not be charged for paying by debit card, whether it's LPS or Santander who levies the charge?

    Debit card - no charge

NAR, I'm the same as you I pay by direct debit, it's not a huge saving to pay in one go for us either

    £2000 is steep!

I'm afraid i haven't progressed beyond my first little house so my annual rates aren't quite that steep!

I take the bill and a big jar of 2p & 10p coins i save all year to the local Post Office and tell them to go nuts. Then i make up the difference in cash.
