Smallish 3 bed two storey semi.
Woodchip on all walls and most ceilings.
Good parking and located in Herts.
How much is that likely to cost?
Also would a tradesman take offence if i did the walls and called them in only for the ceilings and stairwell?

Are you asking how much to sell the house bearing this in mind or how much to do the walls? :huh:0 -
Was asking a ballpark figure to employ a tradesman to strip the horrible woodchip wallpaper.
I know that the plaster will suffer, but my brother is a plasterer so no worries there. Was a 40 a day smoker for 20 years.

Hrm, well you can do it yourself for minimal cost? Just score the walls and soak them with hot water several times before taking it off. That is what we are doing0

Well I did all mine with a wallpaper steamer easy and not that long a job. Ceiling paper came off easy and not much touching up after. Warning water tends to drip down on you using steamer on ceiling just be careful. Try doing just one room and you will be surprised how easy it is.LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220

The art is making sure you score through the paper sufficiently, before steaming or soaking.Truth always poses doubts & questions. Only lies are 100% believable, because they don't need to justify reality. - Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Labyrinth of the Spirits0

The OH bought this scorer thing from B&Q. It it a triangle shape with three blades that are at an automatic length to stop it affecting the plaster. Not sure how effective it'll be but it makes him happy!!0 -
Hi All, i have a steamer and scorer, and have in the past carried out this crappy job, but due to a bad back i was hoping to do just the walls at the most.
Also the stairwell will need someone who knows what there doing to erect a ladder / platform. There is no way i could do this part. Was a 40 a day smoker for 20 years.

Woodchip can be a nightmare to get off and a steamer will be best. A tradesman will not be offended if you ask him to do the bits you aren't happy to do. A handyman will be the best person to get for this.
Have you asked your brother aboyt overboarding the ceilings? If they are going to be skimmed (which you probably will need to do as wood chip paper often pulls plaster with it), it is as cheap to leave the wood chip on, then get your brother to overboard the ceilings with new plasterboard and then skim it off. Will save a lot of hassle.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -

Would chip usually there to cover up all kinds of evils of the plaster. I'd be prepared for a complete re plaster.0 -

My two brothers (brickie and plasterer) will be coming up to check out the new property and agree an "action plan"
I had thought about overboarding too, but not sure about the added weight.
The kitchen and living room may actually be artex, so not sure about them. Was a 40 a day smoker for 20 years.
