Iphone in car charging.
My car stereo, a Clarion, has a cable which is permanently connected to my Ipod Classic. It charges it and controls the iPod over it. Would the same lead charge up an iPhone? Not so bothered about controlling it for music but it would be nice to charge in the car.

Depends how old it is. The pin used for charging the iPhone and iPod Touch is in a different place from normal iPods. Newer stuff that specifically says iPhone charging will work, old ones that just mention iPods will work with the iPhone for playing music but won't charge. Easy way to find out is to plug one it, and it'll tell you on screen if it won't work.0

almillar's right the only way to know will be to plug it in and see if it works, this is because apple changed the accepted resistance of chargers, so only official and licenced charges will charge their new products (basically they made USB charging proprietary)0

Thanks for that. I'll not panic if it doesn't work then.0
