Returning a new phone - no signal
Hi, I want to return my new phone. I've had it about a week. The problem is that the signal is awful. I cannot get a signal in house, and we don't have a landline... I was on O2 and that worked fine. I have swapped to Three. I did use three here before and it was ok. I also checked the signal checker that they offer and I should have signal.
They are saying that I can't return it because I turned the phone on, but I would have thought that distance selling rules (purchased from Three online) would mean I have extended rights?
I am currently on hold - 30 minutes and counting... phone propped against the door so i can go outside and speak if they ever answer....
Is this a common problem? Is there anything I can do MSEers?
Cheers,

I think you cannot do anything now unless they told you that you would have no problems with the signal. However, no network guarantees reception indoors even if the signal is good in the area.
Some research before buying the contract would be a very reasonable thing to do. Can be easily done with a free PAYG sim even if you don't have any friends on '3'.0 -
I would have thought checking their service checker was doing research, as was having lived in this house before and used Three with no problems.....
Their tool said I would not have problems....0 -

You need to look at 3's t&c on the web - see http://ask3.three.co.uk/SRVS/Data/Hutch/KnowledgeBases/Ask3/document/web/retail1.htm
These are their t&c and the time to ask the question you are now asking was before you signed up!
Having said that, their t&c are quite ridiculous but legal. Hindsight - a wonderful thing - says that you should have tried out 3's signal personally before committing to a long, expensive contract.
But do try out a different handset if you can in case it is that.0
