Hi, we are moving into a new house and wanted to buy one of these american style fridges. ok, they are a bit expensive and, say, in Comet most of them are Samsung. As I've seen quiet a lot negative comments about these Samsung fridges, would someone recommend us a fridge worth buying?

I think a lot of this comes down to choice.
My husband and I have been looking and we really like the LG in black.
Lots have ice dispensers and water coolers. We did look at the Samsungs but a friend of ours has the LG and they love it its worth a look.
Hope it helps

We are just about to buy the Samsung RSG5UUMH (update or the RSG5DUMH) have it at £925 on multibuy deal which is quite a good saving. I am slightly surprised I got it past the boss at that price.
Main reason are the internal dimensions and therefore capacity are better than all others. Customer reviews are good and strangely the shambles Samsung had with its fridges 4-5 years ago was also a plus point (I reasoned they couldn't screw up twice and maintain credibility in this sector so I am hoping they are sightly over engineering their products).0 -
We've got a Daewoo with ice and water - no problems at all with ours and it is now 5 years old. Still looks brand new.
They are much cheaper than other brands - around £600.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
thank you very much! so, Samsungs are not that bad at the moment! I was thinking about getting a AEG or Bosch, they are reliable (hopefully)0

don't forget, most models will need a cold water feed for ice and water.
I've been looking at the LG ones that don't need any plumbing and have an internal tank for the ice and water feature. They look quite good for the money.0 -
I love my LG. It's one that doesn't have the icemaker. We've had it for about seven years now and it's never given me any trouble at all."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

I decided the tank would just end up as another chore, didn't fancy doing it all the tme.
Agreed. In my present fridge I have three bottles of water permanently inthe fridge which I fill up from the tap as I use them. I don't use ice cubes.
When I get my American FF in the summer, I can ditch that chore and free up some space.0 -
Vote for the LG from me. Had it for 4 years now and possibly one of the best things we have bought.0

I have a samsung - a year after having it i got a call to say they were sending out an engineer to fix a factory fault. Excellent service i think. I have had it about 4 years now and have had no probs. Do buy one with twin cooling though, that means that the fridge and freezer have independent cooling systems so if you have probs with one side you don't lose the food in the other!0
