IKEA - All the furniture you can eat!

Is this really money saving though? Or a clever marketing ploy by IKEA to get you to spend more money in their store?

Considering how cheap the food is in the IKEA restaurant, you would have to eat a LOT of meals in one sitting to get any significant amount back in vouchers towards your furniture shop as you can't use several vouchers for one item (see MSE note at bottom of post).

Also if you are in IKEA in the first place, presumably you are there to buy something in store already, not just for the food, so you have to factor in this cost plus your food bill plus your next trip to use the vouchers, where you may be persuaded to eat again spending even more money (The breakfast, daim bar cake and swedish apple cake are enticing!). You are only getting back the same amount you've spent on your food bill towards your furniture next trip. Surely it makes more sense to save your money and simply spend it on your furniture purchase anyway.

On the other hand, if you have planned to purchase some items including furniture, the yes, it could make sense to split the purchases and grab yourself some cheap grub on the first visit as evey penny counts even if you only get £1 off that bookcase you were after. Just don't get sucked into buying more than you planned on your subsequent visit.

The FAMILY card: def a bargain. My IKEA is near my local Asda store so I always pop in for a free cup of tea on a weekday after my weekly grocery shop.

Nope, we go regularly, at least once a week, just for the breakfast, so I love this offer. Brekky for 4 comes to around the fiver mark and I get a wee lamp, picture frame or candles for free. Best value breakfast out there, and so tasty. Brilliant.

If you are going to Edinburgh Ikea remember to check out the "exclusive web only offers" which change daily, you print out a voucher, one per customer and the voucher reduces the price at the till.

We eat there most times that we visit IKEA anyway. The only challenge is that now fuel is about £1.33 per litre we can't afford to go to Milton Keynes so often. There's an enormous ASDA next door, so we tend to go there during the same visit. We tried their cafe once, but it was more expensive than the IKEA one and the food was nowhere near as nice.
