Grumble - no it was £4 per meg and £18.

I have found out that an average picture rich web page to a smartphone is 50 - 75Kb which makes sense. T

My traffic must have been Orange mapping or some kind of application downloading data as a startup or something like that and normal browsing whilst expensive wont break the bank completely. Guess I will never know now.

Morrisonsemployee - I will looks through your old posts to find a sim only perhaps at Carphone warehouse.

All this is new to me - my Nokia 1112 has served me well for years costs pence to use on Tesco payg and survived being run over by a big Mercedes and still works and has a two week battery life !! Find me a smartphone that does all that and I'll buy it.

  • I'm a very disgruntled (soon to be ex-) Orange user.

Whilst I am prepared to believe that I used up 100mb in 4 days (probably thru mapping software), the wording on the Orange website says that a after this allowance is used up there is a maximum daily charge for mobile Internet browsing of £2.

After spotting a charge for 1 day of £6.00, I phoned CS on 14th April and they agreed a credit of £4 would be given within the hour. Later that day I received a call from a CS rep apologising that the credit would take longer than expected but he would personally ensure it was done within 24hours.

On 19th April I had still not received the credit - this time their CS rep advised that "the system was down" but someone would call me back within 24hours

I have just come off the phone from a CS manager who advised that the £2 charge is for 25mb only. I had used 78mb on the day & hence had been charged £6 (3 bundles of 25mb)

I can't find anywhere on Orange's T&Cs about a 25mb limit & I'm not going to stay with a company with such p**s poor Customer Services. I've got my PAC, so bye bye Orange !

If I were you I'd ask the manager to tell me where I can find this.
  • Hi skyblue1987 and grumbler

The easiest way to find this information would be by searching for something like £2.00 daily cap on our website. This should take you to the terms of this offer. Although these terms do state that this is subject to a fair usage level of 25Mb per day, I'm still not sure that this would explain the charges described.

Skyblue1987, if you can let us know your account details via the links in our profile page, I’d be happy to see if we can shed any light on this for you.

    I hope we can help.

Vary strange way to look for this.
Is it unreasonable to expect to see this in the "out of plan costs" tab for any tariff? I've chosen randomly Panther Extra 25 and the only information I see is:
Maximum daily charge for data browsing £1.
I think the information is hidden really well if even you cannot post a link to it.

Also I followed your advice and searched 'help & support' section:
The plan you are on will determine which one applies to you.
    You'll either be charged:

    • A flat rate of £1 a day for mobile internet browsing, this is subject to a daily fair use limit of 25MB. If you have a mobile internet browsing bundle this will also be the daily rate you pay if you go over your allowance. This rate applies to all new and upgrading customers from 1 April 2011.
    • A flat rate of just 61p a day for mobile internet browsing, this is subject to a daily fair use limit of 25MB. If you have a mobile internet browsing bundle this will also be the daily rate you pay if you go over your allowance.
      or
    • £3.06 per Megabyte, up to a maximum of £1.54 a day, this too is subject to a daily fair use limit of 25MB.
    I don't see any £2.00.
And the last paragraph makes not sense to me... Is it just me?
  • Hi grumbler

The information is not hidden, however, we are not permitted to post links to our website. I had hoped the directions I gave would be sufficient.

By searching for £2.00 daily cap, the first match should be a link to our "Orange & Orange World - mobile internet terms and conditions" page. This page contains terms for several bundles, including the Capped Data Bundle for Pay As You Go.

The terms for this bundle state that it is subject to a fair usage limit of 25Mb per day. I offered to look into this further for skyblue1987, as I am not sure that this really explains the £6.00 charges they incurred.

As skyblue1987 mentioned the £2.00 cap in their post, I took this to mean they were on Pay As You Go. The information you have quoted relates to our Pay Monthly customers.

The final paragraph you quote refers to being charged £3.06 per MB, up to a limit of £1.54 per day, again subject to a 25MB fair usage limit. For example, if you used 0.1MB in one day you would be charged £0.31, if you used 0.5MB you would be charged £1.53, but if you used 5MB you would only be charged £1.54.

    I hope this makes sense.

I have mentioned it on here loads already but there are 2 great SIM only deals at the moment which iv mentioned below - Also there are free unlock codes online for the phone.

    Carphone Warehouse - £5.11 per month [Rolling 30 day contract - 100 minutes, 100 texts, 100MB]

    T-Mobile - £6 per month [Rolling 30 day contract - 100 minutes, 100 texts, 500MB]
What network is the CW deal on?
Does anyone know if the T-Mobile will work on an unlocked OSF?

If someone tells you that it works, this will make no difference to you. Generally, all android phones work on all UK networks. Dozens of people can tell you that OSF works with O2/giffgaff, but your handset doesn't work for some mysterious reason.

Cheers Grumbler. I've only tried it with 02 not Giffgaff. I know its the same network but the settings are different. I have a Giffgaff sim and could risk £10 on it. There does appear to be a lot of support on the Giffgaff forum. Ideally, I want to keep my existing number and not lose the £17 on my 02 sim.

Sorry to bushwhack you this way but I would appreciate your help.

I have an Orange San Francisco on PAYG which was working fine until about 2 weeks ago but now intermittently it drops the signal and gives me no service, especially in my own home, which has never happened before either on this phone or any other. I have rung customer services and got a very polite lady who basically did all the things I have done but also told me to register on the Orange website for T-Mobile even though I have had a text telling me I was already able to use T-Mobile's signal. I have done this but sadly the problem continues. It is getting on my nerves quite frankly and I wondered whether it is something to do with T-Mobile or just a coincidence. No offence but just lately I have had several problems with Orange Customer Service staff (very polite, pleasant etc but effectively useless I'm afraid) and really feel that ringing them again is pointless.
Is this problem something you can help me with please?

    Many thanks for your time.
