capped contract?

Hi,

Im looking for a mobile contract for my father. It can be sim only or with phone. I am looking for mobile companies that can cap the contract at a max price, for instances like he didnt lock it and it dialied numbers in his pocket & rang up a massive bill. (hes not the most mobile savvy person). He is currently with o2 and topping up £10 a week, this is too costly for what he is getting.

any advice or help would be much appreciated.

Do you really need a contract in the first place? Why not PAYG?
  • Look at some of the SIM only contracts - Some are as little as £5.11 a month [Carphone Warehouse] or £6 a month [T-Mobile] however i don't think they can/want to cap the service when you reach a certain level?
    :dance:Quidco Payments In 2011 - £724.21

    June: £43.15/July: £51.22/August: £90.60/September: £29.75/October: £284.07/November: £171.08/December: £29.22

Tesco do a SIM only capped product, but they are the only people to still do so. http://phone-shop.tesco.com/tesco-mobile/simonly?Type=CappedSimCard&CarouselType=NetworkTopCappedSIMsCarousel
once out of credit you need to top up like PAYG

Three will allow you to set a zero balance so once you run out of credit you should be stopped from running up a bill however they specifially state in the terms and conditions that this mechanism should ne be used for budgetting, It's possible to run up a bill on this (say premium texts or calls made outside the UK) and the bill payer will still be liable for all costs.

Something like O2 simplicity on pay and go may work, you basically prepay from your credit for 100 or 300 minutes w/ texts, and as it's pay and go the worse that will happen if he goes over is any credit left will be used up.

I'm sure most networks do a similar pay and go thing.
