  • YEs totally - I couldn't find any cheap US cups, mind it was a few years ago - where did you get yours at a good price?
I got mine from Lakeland years ago and of course they don't do the ones I have any more:rolleyes: . Mine are stainless steel. Lakeland do similar steel cups which are expensive -£15 and a set of plastic ones for £7. I don't think this is particularly cheap though. I'm sure you can get them cheaper somewhere, maybe supermarkets?

i have a nice set of ceramic cup measures that were a new house pressie . i have never used them - i have a few recipies that use cups and i use an old tea cup my late nan gave me for the purpose - she passed on an old family recipe (could not afford scales) and gave me a cup from a teaset that had had several breakages.

    tap-tap-tap......opens door a twitch....can I come in? :o

Hands up to my not having read the thread yet, but if I don't post now I'll only go & forget :p So many apologies if this is covered earlier....

Are US measures = to ANZAC measures too would you know? Only with MSE now becoming a world-wide phenomenon, I've noticed several recipes from our antipodean friends appearing.
    TIA :D

Oleo is a hard margarine; you can just use margarine or butter.

    ((((1 cup = 1 stick = 8 ounces))))

The bit above in brackets is wrong - I should have woken up properly before posting. 1 stick = 1/2 cup = 4 ounces.

most of the answers on here http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080305205537AAEKQtU say that a stick of Oleo (rather than other margarine or butter) is equivalent to half a cup

Yep, sorry, you're right. I shouldn't answer questions before I've eaten my breakfast.

1 stick = 4 oz = 1/2 cup. I'll edit my previous post to correct it so it doesn't end up confusing anyone who does a search for info.

    Apologies!

I have googled it, it sounds like having the grill & oven on together:confused:
