Do you have any pottery places nearby...a few years ago the "paint the plate/cup" was all the rage for childrens parties...perhaps you could paint a personalied plate to commemorate the wedding...its a bit of a loose link to Greece and the smashing of them.

I think i'm suffering from a servere case of difficult groom. I would love the receive something like that - he would not :(

I find every christmas and birthday a challenge! I've already bought him an ipod (engraved too) and I'm getting him the camera for his birthday. He loves (lives and breathes) football, but weirdly doesn't support a premiership side, he loves local football. He loves cooking, but our kitchen is really tiny and i've already filled it with gadgets for him, and books.

    Gah, this is hard!! x

    Hi twirlypink,

I had a similar dilemma when I got married two years ago and then came across a suggestion on a wedding forum.

If you google ohsocherished.co.uk and have a look under their wedding section there is something called 'My Gorgeous Groom - Journal' which I got for my husband to open on the morning of his wedding and even know he still talks about how fantastic a gift it was.

Its a leatherbound journal that has different headings/questions which you then write under, things like 'our funniest memories', 'the first time you said you loved me', 'why you're perfect for me', 'our first date'. You have to put some thought and time into it but if you get it well in advance you'll have plenty of time to complete it. I sometimes got writers block but kept remembering stuff and writing it down on a bit of scrap paper before I did my final draft in the journal. It even has a section at the back for photos and makes a lovely keepsake. My husband cried his eyes out when he read it but then he is a big softy when it comes to stuff like that.

And if you wanted to be super MSE you could even do your own version and come up with your own headings and pics to put in. My husband did something similar to the photo album from the movie Up called 'Our Adventure Book' and stuck loads of pics of days out, hols and stuff like that with little funny comments under them and then left some blank pages for our future adventures.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for the suggestion, and i did look at those when they were posted up recently, but it's just not his sort of thing. I would love to receive a book like that, but i think he would just read it once, thank me and then put it in a drawer under the bed. It's like our wedding invites and replies, if i hadn't caught him in the process of doing it, he would've thrown all our left over invites and all our replies in the bin! He had no idea i wanted to keep them all and i don't think he really understands why. A lot of men just really aren't sentimental like we are. It's a shame though, it really is a lovely idea, thank you x

"He loves cooking"....does he follow recipies?...could you get a plain book and fill it with his favoutie recipies so they are all together in one place rather than in lots of books...his favourites, your favourites, even family favourites ...some greek ones to remind you of the wedding...and then leave some space so you can add future favourites...ie mashed food ones when baby Twirly decides what they like too!

Heh heh - hence why I'm going for what I am - something he will most definitely be enjoying! :rotfl:

We moved in together when we got back from honeymoon, I gave him some keys - you know the patterend ones - for the front door and my car and wrote him a letter to open on the morning. I think the letter really touched him, he would have got the keys anyway but it made for a rather nice gift.
I nearly did the boudoir pics, but am too self concious to have anything like that floating around!
