Upgrade BA flight at Airport

Hi,

Basically I booked a BA flight (economy) and then wanted to upgrade a day later (had a work bonus I didnt know I was having) I went on to BA website and it said £232.00 to upgrade to Traveller Plus per person, I tried and tried to upgrade with no such luck, emailed them they said to contact the number, contacted the number for days and days always said lines were busy and they cut off.

Im travelling in 3 days and finally got through today, they claim they had a problem with their systems but now the upgrade is £759.00 per person. The guy says the seats are empty for PE and to ask at the airport??

Has anyone does this before, does it work out cheaper as im not very happy and my partner thinks were going in PE

Many Thanks

    Which route are you flying?

There may be seats available in WT+, but if WT is full they will not sell these off cheaply as they will need to use the seats for op ups.
    Gone ... or have I?

Flying From Heathrow to JFK on 15th April 8:30am, the guy said WT+ was practically empty

AFAIK upgrades are available at the airport for around £150 each way. That price is from last year so it may have gone up since then. Also have a look when you check in at T-24, the price may have decreased then.

I paid about the same to get WT+ flying from Chicago back in 2006 so I'd imagine it wouldn't have fluctuated too much :)

Think he/she means when the on-line check-in becomes available at 24 hours before take-off(T) but I may be wrong.

AFAIK = As Far As I Know
  • The BA Exec Club forum on FlyerTalk seems to suggest that upgrades at the airport can be cheaper than doing on line. However, they also suggest regular strutiny of your booking on-line as cheap upgrade prices may be offered.

Well, they say no news is good news. Maybe we'll hear on return.
