iPhone 4 - £10 Per Month (30 Day Contract)

Hi All,

My 24 month () contract is coming to an end on 22nd June so I have been looking around for a better sim only deal.

Little history - Bought the original iPhone 3GS twice (me and partner) on a business contract which works out as roughly £60 in total each month. The deal at the time was the best around considering the cost of the handset etc.

When the iPhone 4 came out we sold the handsets and bought the iPhone 4 sim free to avoid having to sign up to an additional 12 months (so ending June 2012) AND paying an extra £10 to £20 per month!

Our usage has also decreased dramatically during the last 18 months so we are no only light users with the main focus on some data.

So considering this the best deal at present seems to be:

THREE @ £10 per month with 100min, too many texts and 1GB of data. This does not included a micro-sim but they will provide one for free or at worst with a £5 charge. The offer also provide £15 credit on the third bill for both accounts which covers off the sim fee and provides a free month.

THREE has also confirmed to me they can place a cap on the account to avoid spending more then I should (thinking data etc)

Now... we were with THREE 3 years back and their customer service was DREADFUL however at £10 per month with a 30 day contract you can't complain?!?

Question: is there a better deal out there? can you confirm if THREE can place a cap on the account, can you confirm if the plan will work with iPhone or have then lied? (They offer iPhone 4 deals and the cheapest is £15 so I wonder why they don't offer the cheaper plan also).

T-mobile Cashback loophole. Get £55 and free minutes for nothing.

You will probably have to cut the sim manually.

Also giffgaff. The same £10 as at '3', but for 'unlimited'.

giffgaff uses 02's network so I would prefer to move away from them because their network isn't too strong locally. TMobile have a PAYG deal for the iPhone.... buy the SIM for £5 (top up £10) and you get internet free for 12months. If you top up £10 each month you get 100 free minutes for the next month.

Assuming I don't top up £10 each month because of the light usage I get my free data and then PAYG for the rest. MMMMM

I have a friend who got this £10 deal for their i phone 4 that they bought separately, because it is a i phone 4 had to request a micro sim via the store he visited to take out the deal and it was sent free of charge.

I have been with 3 for years and have had the same deal in the past for the iphone 3 (normal size sim) and yes you can cap it. I phoned customer services and they capped my internet and can also cap calls if you wish. Doesnt cost anything extra to do this.

In my opinion 3 CS via 333 from mobile have been excellent most of the time. I would always try to do research around when upgrading to a different deal or at the end of a contract tho so you know hwat is available on the market at the time.

Tho on the sim only deal beauty is can cancel it with 30 days notice. (or give 30 days notice which allows you to keep the same number on payg if you are still looking for a contract after your sim only has ended)

    Hope that helps

Check the service in your area, theres no point having unlimited data if you can't access it. Don't go via what they tell you on the phone: I was with 3, I live in London, travel around London, occasionally visit family outside of London. I got no connection or very little connection and zero connection when I was in my own home. That was money wasted, I had a better service but they changed something, service stopped. They told me on the phone they had "upgraded the signal and it should have improved my service: LIARS! It turned out a campaign from a local school had them move the areal and if they did move it they didn't put it back anywhere within London as far as my connection was concerned!

Make sure you do your research on signals first: ask friends and family, its far harder to get out of a contract once you've started it.

And yes, 3's customer service was still terrible, had gotten progressivly worse during the years I was with them in addition, I could have sworn the accents became harder to understand! I left in early March.
