I have been with LV in the past. One claim was dealt with well and another poorly. They increase renewal fees so that they are dearer than someone joining fresh which is very annoying but seems a common trait. They have UK call centres though in the claim that was dealt with poorly, I seemed to be passed around them all from pillar to post with no-one taking responsibility for handling my claim. I would say they are OK; about average for what one can expect these days. I moved from them for a cheaper premium with Elephant who are also OK but not great either.

Thanks EdGasket interesting reply i think it will prompt me to take advantage of lower initial rates and see how i go many thanks.
  • I've been with them for 3 years but no claims so can't say how they handle that. I did add one of my sons onto my insurance for a few weeks when he was without a car and they were great to deal with as I had to ring them on several occasions to put him on a few times over a couple of months, so no complaints there. This time when I renewed they were the cheapest I could get but I rang them and said I wasn't too happy with the price so they dropped it by £20 - not a lot but they were already the cheapest.

Both myself and my other half are with them. Never claimed from them but they seem decent enough in my view.

I just moved to them from Admiral, I have two cars which had been on the multi car policy, and I wanted to change to paying monthly, my renewal from Admiral was about £150 more than the quote I got from LV, but when I wanted to change to monthly it was going to be another £100 so I saved £250 in total for my two cars. So from that sense I reckon they're brilliant, they score highly in the Defaqto ratings, so far, and touch wood, I haven't had to make a claim.
Something else I benefitted from was that I'm a civil servant and joined our motoring association so saved some money there too, and the guy on the phone was very helpful in telling me to get one quote with my discount for already being a customer(home insurance) for one car, and they matched the online quote on the phone because I had to set up the DD over the phone, then go back online, get a quote for the second car online then phone up and get the extra discounts.

    Good luck.
Thanks to all the competition posters.

I was with them a few years ago and had loads of trouble with them after my car showed up as a 1.4 instead of a 1.8 on their database.

It took about 3-4 phone calls and admin charges to get it put right.

I then moved house and updated my address just around the renewal time and the new documents showed my car as a 1.4 again!
  • many thanks smitchy73 they do appear to be cheaper for instalments and thanks to mark5 it is interesting when i filled online quotes how i had supposedly made various errors when inputing details got there in the end though
