90 Days Nearly Up Want To Leave Negative Feedback

Can anyone advise me on what happens if you leave negative feedback just before the 90 days are up.

Bought an item last December never been received. Seller fobbed me off saying item may be late due to christmas post. So i waited until after christmas but still no luck. Seller advised me she had enquired with the post office as i had asked to to get proof of posting but she hadn't heard from them. She then offered me a refund which i never got and by this time it was too late to report to ebay. The 90 days are up next week i am going to leave negative feedback in the last minute for the simple reason that i dont want negative feedback left for me in retaliation for something thats not my fault. If i leave negative feedback does that mean it will stay open for another 90 days.

I know someone on this board will have the answer.

Thanks to you all in advance.

:)

I don't know, I should think it is straight forward! Just hope they are not logged on so they can't leave you the feedback at the same time!! icon10.gif - do it in the last second!

It is possible to leave feedback after 90 days, but it doesn't always work.

The answer is on Ebay's help pages here.

It is still possible for the other person to leave something in return if EBay have not removed the item from their database within the 90 day limit. This happens frequently, so there is a chance that your 'victim' will spot what you have done and retailiate just in time.

It's risky but you will probably get away with it. Personally I always find it a bit underhand when people do this but that's just my opinion!
  • Might be underhand but sometimes it has to be done. Esp in cases where the negger hasn't actually done anything wrong but doesn't want a retalitory neg in reply to theirs.

I can't see how this can be done? after a while the item disappears from your feedback "todo" page and just typing the number won't bring the page up as it will say auction has finished (After 90 days) why don't you have a go and let us know!! icon10.gificon12.gif

How it works is this - EBay remove items from their database which are over 90 days old. However in very busy periods when the database can't cope, there is sometimes a slight delay in doing this. So this gives an extra time window in which you can leave feedback - this can be anywhere from minutes to hours or even days in extreme cases.

Even when the item is greyed out you can still sometimes leave it by using a back door - go into My Ebay and use the feedback forum and put in the item number. This sometimes still works if you get there in time.

It is not unusual for this scenario to happen, but the victim still needs to spot it quickly in order to catch it in time.

There are automated feedback tools available on the internet which will allow you to leave feedback at the last possible minute (a bit like auction snipers).

What bothers me about leaving negatives at the last minute is that the seller / buyer effectively has an extra 90 days to rip someone else off.

thanks for that. icon7.gif I understand it a bit more now!

OP - have you checked whether the person is still on ebay and have you checked their current feedback etc?

  • Thanks For All Your Input - Unfortunately The Seller Is Still On Ebay And Has Over 1000* And Only 1 Neg Everybody Else Has Had Their Items And Had No Problems.
Got Fed Up Of Emailing Seller To Try And Sort Out. The Last Time I Emailed I Had No Response As To Whether Or Not The Post Office Had Given Her A Refund.
I'll Put It Down To Experience Even Though I Have 350* And Will Report To Ebay A Bit Quicker Next Time Even Though They Dont Really Do Anything

Thanks Again - Still Undecided What To Do About The Feedback Though

Just to update on what does happen when you want to leave negative feedback on the 90 day deadline.

A warning message pops up to say that the other party has 7-10 days to respond to the feedback.

No she didn't neg me but her reply was "it takes time to sort out"

Auction ended 3rd December - NO HURRY THEN
