How come the value didn't match up to the voucher sent though? I don't understand that bit.
I'd done a shop the previous day with a voucher for about £16 (on a different email address)
All the vouchers issued to the 'new' email address were in excess of £18, therefore he knew that the £16 voucher hadn't come from this email address, as the email address I gave him had 5 amounts listed next to it - none were £16.0 -
oh my, i would have given birth to a little brown onion
Can you imagine them trying to ban everyone on here? Go to another Tesco and spend your vouchers. Good luckMFW 2013 #146 Target £6000

i suspect that you could go into another tesco without any problems.
I agree, banning you nationwide is a idol threat - who screens customers coming into the stores. Its impossible. However i'd say to stop using the clubcard and pay cash.
I haven't encountered any trouts but i think i'm flying under the radar at the minute. Who'd suspect a bloke in a suit who likes a tipple of wolf blass. If they did say anything to me, i'd just say, not my fault tesco is a rip-off

Out of interest (and I'm sure it IS in the T&C's) why can't you give your voucher to someone else to spend if you want to? If I had some and my mum was on the breadline, or had a friend with young children who was struggling and couldn't afford the initial outlay, why can't I give them my voucher? it still goes back in Mr T's pocket so I don't see the problem. Also, I'm slightly perplexed as to how they can be obtained "fraudulently". Yes you can go over the limit, but you can't actually cunjur up a voucher out of nowhere can you?0 -

My DS etc always does the voucher for me as I don't have the internet at home;)?

A quick word of warning based on my experiences of today.
I went to do my first DTD shop today and the SA was checking the voucher as normal - had never seen one before and said one of the numbers didn't match (why Tesco haven't fixed this by now - god knows) so called over the supervisor. Fine. It was a supervisor I hadn't seen before so I wasn't worried. However, this SA had never seen one before and wouldn't accept it for the same reason (one number didn't match). Told her they are all like that and to check with HO if she wanted to. I went with her to customer services and she rang head office who confirmed to her that that was the way the vouchers came out - they then asked me to confirm my email address to verify it was my voucher before I could use it. Confirmed the email address I had 'created' to enter the details for this voucher (I made up a new email address each day for my set of vouchers - did 5 shops a day and this way never exceeded my £100 limit) He then said that the supervisor had advised him that there was a coupon payment on the receipt for a certain figure and I had told her that was a DTD voucher.
I was then taken through to the back to talk privately...........
So when I spoke to him again, the first thing that he said that that figure did not match any of the figures of the vouchers sent to the email address that I had given him, so he asked what email address the voucher I paid for my previous shopping had been generated from. Told him (and at this point we both realised that he knew the 'patttern' of the email addresses that I was using) - I won't say what the pattern is on here, but pretty basic.
He said that he was satisfied that I had deliberately made up email addresses in order to get round the terms and conditions of obtaining £100 per month, and it was obvious I had to be fair.
At that point he told me that I was barred from every Tesco in the country and that my image was on the CCTV and that the picture would be sent to every store, and if I went in any Tesco store again I would be tresspassing and that they would press charges against me.
I've gone over it pretty quickly here, but it was nearly 3 hours from when I entered the shop until I left, and I had my 2 year old with me.
Just be careful when input your email addresses for your vouchers, they are obviously tightening things up a bit, so my advice would be keep the vouchers on a cycle of the same email address (if that makes sense) - even if you have 4 or 5 email addresses on the go at once, try to keep your new voucher 'linked' to the previous voucher by email address to stop things like this happening again.
It was good while it lasted but my DTD days are over (even if the tresspassing charge was an idol threat, I don't want to risk it - wouldn't be worth it) so it's now down to my better half to be the DTD'er. Just means we will now get 4 DTD shops a week rather than 5 a day.
Hope this information hels some people.
You brought that apon yourself by doing so many shops aday and greed taking over. its dtd peeps like you who will end this for the rest of us.0 -
If anyone does get anything remotely like the situation dtdsearcher has described, just refuse to go to the private backstore area with them. They cannot make you, so if you are worried just walk out. There is no legal power to detain someone short of arresting someone and a Tesco worker has no right to arrest you and therefore no right to detain you. If someone is making you accompany them, get your mobile out and threaten to call the police regarding wrongful arrest.
If you need to quote anything then powers of arrest are covered in the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE for short), and even police who have attempted to detain someone without first arresting them have been prosecuted as there is no lawful detention short of arrest.0
