  • What's the male equivalent of an old trout? I went shopping with my FIL today, got a few bits and pieces, packed them away and then presented my coupon. "It's in black and white" he said, pursing his lips. "It should be in colour". "Not if you print on a black and white printer" I said, helpfully. "It has to be in colour" he said. "I think you just have to check the numbers match with the receipt and then scan the voucher" I prompted. "It is for rather a large amount and we have to be careful or we lose money" (It was for £18 something and I thought blimey! You've seen nothing yet!).

He called a supervisor over, still asking whether I had printed it on a colour printer or not. He was like a man possessed. The supervisor told him to scan it and sign the old receipt so while he faffed about, tutting and sighing, I extracted the new receipt neatly from the till and smiled sweetly. Funnily enough, once he realised I was with the elderly man behind me in the queue (who was doing his first DTD shop), his attitude changed and he was much nicer. FIL has had a bad experience with Tesco mis-selling him something recently and was busy spending the vouchers they had given him by way of compensation so was keen to start a little guerilla shopping. You're never too old to learn!

    Stupid question alert... sorry...

Can I use my voucher in Tesco Express? I know I wouldn't get anything back... I have one for about £3 and really can't be bothered going anywhere further just for tin foil to cook with.

I used one in Flintshire at the weekend no problem.
