Hi,
I have a Sony Bravia 40" TV and Virgin v+ box with HD.
I have a few problems in trying to get best picture......
Anything in the dark eg nightime scenes is coming up very
blurry and distorted.
In the same way CCTV footage shows a blurry?
I also have some HD channels coming up as wrong size, eg
black bar down both sides... yet other channels are perfect
picture?
My Sony settings are:
Picture standard
backlight 6
contrast 65
brightness and colour 50
colour temp neutral
sharpness 19
any help appreciated

If the HD channel is showing programs originally filmed in SD and 4.3 aspect ratio then you will have the black bars either side, it is how it should be viewed for best effect.0

How is your tv connected to the V+ Box, HDMI or Scart?
If it's scart the picture won't be hi def, if it is HDMI then you have the correct connection. The V+ box can output either 720P or 1080i. Depending on the native resoution of your TV you may find one of the setting gives a better picture quality than the other. If it's 'Full HD' i.e. 1920 x 1080 pixels try the 1080i setting, if it's 'HD Ready' i.e. 1280 x 720, then try the 720P setting."...IT'S FRUITY!"0 -
Check the settings on your V+ box; there is an option to change picture sizes and the bar size.
Also, make sure you are connected via HDMI.0
