Paphos, Cyprus Car Hire

Can anyone recommend any good rental companies? We're flying out the weekend after next and I still haven't sorted the car hire. All the big names seem to be £250+ for 13 days - not sure if this is good or bad. Have emailed Houlos care rental over there but have had no response.

If I buy insurance before we go (as Martin recommends) how do we know they'll accept it & not enforce we buy their own?

Sorry - never done this before!

    Hiya,

I have hired a car twice in Paphos. I used an online comparator site https://www.anyairportcarhire.com and not had any problems. I think the last time I hired it was for around the length you have mentioned and I think it was around that price also. To be fair, both times i hired i opted for the cheapest manual car but both times I was upgraded free of charge to a more powerful automatic, so was really pleased about that - of course perhaps I was just lucky both times! I chose to buy the extra insurance seperately, thought this was a wise idea as I know what the Cypriot drivers are like!! Had no problem with this at the agent, they did say do you want extra insurance, I said I have arranged my own and that was fine.

I don't know if you use Facebook at all? The company has a 5% discount on car hire at the moment if you like their page.

Whereabouts are you staying in Paphos? Such a lovely area, I've been 4 times now I think (got family there). I want to move there!!!

Thanks Goldielocks - I think you mentioned them on my Cyprus thread but I've lost it! Will take another look.

I've had this from a local company "I can offer you the HONDA JAZZ 1.4 A/C at 270 euros for the 12 days including fully comprehensive insurance with ZERO EXCESS LIABILITY, no extra hiddens on arrivals, all taxes and unlimited miles. Any extra drivers are free of charge."

But I think I might get the extra insurance also?

We're staying at the Avanti village - fly out a week on Saturday - can't wait!

Hmm zero excess liability - sounds too good to be true?! Personally I always get the extra insurance just to be quite sure. I've never had a problem ... well actually that's not strictly true. Once I hired a car in Paphos and my sister in law drove it up the local restaurant, when we got back she reversed onto the drive and straight into/onto a cement mixer .. sort of 'displaced' the bumper somewhat. Actually we managed to fix the bumper back on & there was no real harm done - but just saying, these things can happen and when it happened I did sort of think phew thank god I've got the extra insurance (as at the time it made such a crunch!)

Enjoy your holiday - I've very jel !! xx

There are lots of car hire places available in Paphos. Friends of ours used them and said it was about 9 euros a day. Not sure about insurance. Just depends if you want to book it before you get here or not.
