HBOS only have themselves to blame for any panic and confusion, Niksan, although I doubt there's much panic.

I think just to be clear since you seem to be implying it is the world versus just me now, I will easily concede that HBOS ISA Direct Reward is not as tricky as the OP feared. I thank only gilly_dc for clearing that up. But I maintain it is easy to see how the OP came to the erroneous conclusion he posted. He shouldn't have been lamblasted for it.

Beyond these forums I doubt there will be, because there will be no headline stating anything like thread topic did.

I'm implying nothing of the sort, only those contributing to this thread, but if we're basing it on statistics, then why not. ;)

The problem isn't the erroneous conclusion alone, it's sticking to it regardless of whether it's correct or not and just not listening to anyone else, you seemed to have picked a post which made you happy but as the OP hasn't been back I'll assume (s)he has picked a post to conclude the same.

Sometimes people can't see the wood for the trees which will snowball and it won't matter what anyone says, regardless of how it's presented.

EDIT:- If you think about it logically, this trick or swindle, if it were true, you'd think it'd be worth the backlash from the FSA and financial ombudsman? Infact, let's hope it is, as we should get compensated and get an even better return. ;)

Wow, this has just brightened up my morning, if you're going to get all uppity about terms and conditions, make sure you're reading the right ones first.

The Direct Reward 4 is pretty simple, you get 12 month bonus rate of 3% (plus 0.2% if you qualify), you can transfer out or withdraw at ANY time, WITHOUT any loss of interest, and after 12 months you ditch and switch, or reinvest into whichever variable ISA they have available with the best interest at the time.

Yes, Banks do have certain little practises which may catch you out (such as the account dropping to a lower rate after 12 months), but not EVERYTHING they do is some sort of calculated way of screwing over the customer.

gilly_dc doesn't seem to be saying anything different to the majority of people posting on this thread. ;)

A very fair point, to be honest everyone had said what I had said already, I was just clarifying it. To be honest, if you go with opinions4u's advice, they seem to be pretty spot on when it comes to most things to do with Halifax advice.
