i must admit on all the items i sell, my only terms and conditions are payment or at least contact must be made within 24 hours or longer with prior arrangement or i will relist item, mainly because ive had a few problems with people who win and dont contact for ages then decide they dont want it! it really does my head in! i like to have a quick turn around to keep everyone happy! and ive never had a problem with it ***touch wood!!*** x

Ok then, so in the case here what *exactly* are you going to do if a buyer ignores your terms and pays on day 3 instead? What for instance will you do if the item is already relisted and has bids, you have of course alreasdy paid your second set of listing fees, plus the first lot plus the first set of FVFs.

to be honest its never happened! im not a huge ebay seller, i just put on old nursing textbooks ive finished with or my daughters clothes, was just saying i state that in my auction, suppose if it did happen, i would not really relist i would give the buyer an opportunity to pay or contact me! 3 days is an acceptable time frame IMO.. would just personally prefer for people to pay swiftly!

In that case why risk losing customers, many of us would walk away from a seller we considered naive as we would just assume you didn't know what you were doing and could therefore be a hassle. Take the term out and you may find you fetch higher end prices.

If you can't enforce it why put it in?

TBH i start all my auctions at 99p anyhow and they always reach a fair price as i said im not a huge seller, and i would rather have buyers who can pay within 24 hours because i time my auctions to end thursay night/fri morning because i work mon-fri 8.30-4.30 and struggle to get to the post office any time other than sat morns, so if people dont pay within the 24 hours it causes me problems. ive never had any problems thou, and have 5*s in all areas and 100% positive feedback.:D

guys, thanks for all the clarification and advice. I have paid and they have apparently sent it yesterday so we'll see when it turns up.

I think from now on I'll just avoid anyone who has anything like that in their listing to avoid any hassle. I can't always get to a computer at weekends and if they were expecting me to pay within 24hours for something ending on a Friday or Saturday I may not be able to.

I know they can't enforce it but it would avoid any messing

You'll find a lot of people will avoid sellers with daft terms which is why I cannot understand why any seller would bother with them at all.

usually if there are any crazy terms I do avoid, but I have to say I didn't see the "payment within 24hours" statement or I probably would have avoided.
Teach me to read properly in future really :)

tbh if you try and avoid anyone who has some odd, stupid, unenforceable or illegal term, there won't be many sellers left to buy from... :D
