Best suntan lotion for kids with sensitive skin
Comments
-
because my skin can be sensitive the only sun cream i use is avon so i have always used this for my children. i buy the factor 50 childrens one. i think it is about £8 a tube, but i've never paid that often it is on offer for 3 for £10 or half price or less. i stock up when on offer.
I have also used their factor 30 on the children and that also works well. i reapply sun cream abotu every hour so go through lots, but never had a single problem with it.0 -
Cheers everyone-top advice as always0

One not mentioned is No-Ad. It is often in savers. Sometimes in a themed bottle such as pirates of the carribean the other year. Find this is lovely to apply and is not greasy either as my ds complains and refuses to use greasy ones (14 years old). Never made me or my son itch and we both have sensitive skin with some patches of excema. The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0

You could also try a mineral sunscreen (like a powder that you dust on); mineral products are famously good for sensitive skin and it should be available all over the internet0

i use for me and my girls the nivea factor 50 we all have slight excema and sensitive skin and it is the best have used others but they tended to aggrivate so stick to one brand now:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

These links via the Eczema society may be useful as we found a couple of brands worked with our daughter

The one we used last year was the Sunsense one (Toddler milk I believe) that you can order online. It is one of the few that doesn;t have a certain preservative (Methyl something or other!) that casuses a lot of the reactions people get0 -
At their young age its a good idea and practice to get them used to "buttering" up. We forget how easy it is to get sunburn in this country. Also don't forget those hats with the neck protector that the Aussie kids wear. Remember though that exposure to sunlight is a valuable source of vitamin D.0

The best sunscreen for kids is a tent or a cape!
Remember that suncreams offer best protection against UV-B, which causes burning but their protection against UV-A is far lower and UV-A is the frequency that does the real, long term, serious damage.
The poster above who advises"buttering" is quite right, you must apply suncream thickly and reapply it regularly to get protection.
And the other poster who suggests "organic" sunscreen deserves to have their kids removed - No organic agent yet offers adequate or lasting protection0 -

I was actually with you until your penultimate sentence - stupid comment
Keeping covered up and out of direct sun in the hottest part of the day is the most practical solution for many and using a proven broad spectrum sunscreen that dioes protect against UVB and UVA is also important
There are also some organic (naturally produced) compounds in some plants that do indeed offer full protection0 -

I agree, sunshinetours.
Such an over-the-top, unnecessary comment from pogofish.
The person who mentioned organic suncream (apples1) sounds like a sensible person.
Pogofish
if you want to suggest posters 'deserve to have their kids removed' at least find a thread that warrants that comment.0
