I have just booked flights to las vegas and as i have always travelled direct there before got a question about baggage charges and connecting flights.
The flight out from LHR flights into LAX then onto vegas. Both flights are united flights.
I understand the LHR - LAX part the baggage is included but unsure if i have to pay for the LAX to Vegas bit or would it all come under the 1 as i booked it together?
Same question for the flight back, this again booked via united system but the flight goes into Canada first then onto LHR (the flight is operated by Air Canada)

If it's booked as one ticket, it should be under the standard allowance for a flight from the UK - US. Beware though, United only allow most passengers one suitcase FOC now. (used to be two)

And in case you were not aware, you will be reunited with your baggage at LAX anyway. This is because you will have to clear Immigration and Cutoms at your first arrival point in the US. In this case LAX, You will then have to re-check your baggage on to LAS. This is normally at something similar to a fast bag drop and usually as you have not left a secure area you will not have to put it through security again.
As stated above, the baggage allowance on flights booked through from UK to final destiantion is generally the higher of the allownaces on any sector. In this case I would expect that to be on the UK - LAX sector. If travelling economy that would be for a single checked bag not exceeding 158 cm in total dimensions and weighing no more than 23kg.
It is also worth noting that you can also take a carry on bag not exceeding 114 cm total dimensions and there does not appear any weight limit, although if too heavy they may decide to class as checked baggage. You can also take one other personal item as defined on their web site which could be a briefcase, garment bag, laptop computer, purse or small backpack.0 -

No visa required, because you're only transiting in Canada.
UK passport holders don't require a visa to enter Canada - it's Commonwealth country and we're all good friends

Ok and just 1 more then and this 1 im struggling to get a clear answer. Called Both United and air canada both not to much help.
How about the baggage for the return flight. the flight is a United Airlines code share but operated by Air Canada to Montreal then a proper Air Canada flight back to LHR.
I know there was a reason i always normally travel direct lol.....this should be an experience in a month today :P0 -

I this sort of situation, the rules of the operating carrier apply. If it's operated by AC, then turn to http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelinfo/airport/baggage/0
