idea for things to do with the kids with out leaving the house?

I had my appendix out last week, the kids (7 and 8)are now on easter holiday and their dad has had to go back to work.

I can not drive, or walk very far, or in fact do much at all.

I dont want them to be completely bored the whole holiday, so I am after fun things to do for them that I can help with from the sofa.

so far today my girls have had the play dough out, made some jewelry from a kit LO got for her birthday last month & eldest (6) is currently reading me some jokes from a book.

The weather is OK, if it cheers up we will be back in the garden, yesterday they were in the pool. Let them fill some buckets with water if you can't get a pool out.

See if they can have one day at a friends & offer to do it back in the Summer holidays.

We will do some cooking, painting.

We will be going out & about a bit - which doesn't help you.

Actually DD has just got a book out & is in the process of making a "sun circle" a sun picture, which she will decorate, put into the garden, with a straw in the middle & mark where the sun falls at hourly intervals!

Mine (8 and 11) have spent the morning playing on PC, on xbox and watching tv. We are recovering from a weekend of v & d, so are having very much a pyjama day. It's nice here, would they play in the garden for a bit? Have they any toys/games that got given at xmas and they haven't played with yet, or any crafty/arty stuff they didn't finish.

They are on the trampoline in the garden right now, I dont mind a bit of tv, wii etc but dont want the whole 3 weeks.

They have some art stuff left, but they tend to use it straight away, might see if DH will go to hobby craft after work and get some more.

    baking is always good,

how about some 'gardening' get some planters and some cheapish flowers and plant them, one tub a child, the other would be to actually look at getting some fruit and/or veg seeds and get them growing some food

set them the task of creating their own board game

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

i like the idea of making a board game, the gardening is beyond me right now as I am pretty much stuck on the sofa

well gardening might be something to think about towards the end of the holiday, as it doesnt have to be hard on your part, they fill the tubs, they plant the flowers/seeds all you have to do is instruct them on how to do it, as i would think at 7 and 8 they are fully capable of doing the manual labour parts, the only problem is the mess which means you would have to sit yourself outside

edit all i can say with the making the board game, just accept you will have to be a ref for the rules as they make them up ;) - just remember to tell them to create it as a four player game so you and dad can have a game with them when they have finished
