Don't put up links to well priced cars at CarGiant the usual suspects, who appear to be absent recently, will accuse you of working there.
Though that Scenic is well priced, just serviced and the same year as the wifes Clio DCi, very impressed with the 1.5 DCi engine actually, one of the nicest diesels we have ever owned.
Actually, come to think about it. It is one of the besr cars we have ever had, economical, comfy, quiet.
I think that so long as you avoid all the electrical gimmicks the recent Renault models are very good, though I think the way it is looked after is important ours was serviced every 9k before we had it, it was a low miler and was serviced anually, I continue to use top spec oil, Renault oil filters and change them every 6/7k, with an air filter every 12k.
The only thing it has had is front brake pads and some tyres.0 -
A leggy Scenic is asking for trouble IMO. Far too many electrical problems. Sure it'd be a good car if you can put up with it though (that engine will be lethargic in such a big bus, mind)0

I think you need to rethink your definition of leggy Kilty, less than 70k with full history, one owner and just serviced.
And as it is bought from a dealer then you are covered by SOGA.
I have also checked the warranties available to buy at CG are AA ones.
The wifes Clio has the 68bhp versionof the engine, it is no Porsche but is nippy enough. I would think that the 86bhp version in a normal Scenic, rather than a Grand Scenic, would be fine.
A Galaxy is a much bigger and heavier vehicle and most of them have 115bhp engines, with the older ones being mostly 110 bhp, neither the older or newer model could be considered underpowered.
We have some older MK1 Zafiras with the old 100bhp DTi engine and a four speed autobox, they are also a bit bigger and had the rear seat in situ with al the gear on top. These weren't as fast as we needed them to be but were more than adequate for normal use, certainly not underpowered.
So, I see no reason to suspect that an 86bhp Scenic diesel would be underpowered.0 -
70k miles is a lot on a car that is renowned for being unreliable.
"one owner" being Lex Autolease so it's been a rep bus.0 -
I have never heard many issues reported regarding the 1.5 DCi engine, the 1.9 DCi was a bit of a risky buy and I would have reservations about buying one.
But a 5 yr old one owner diesel with under 70k on the clock.
From the little research I have done seems to indicate that the Megane has more problems than the Scenic, that makes little sense as they are pretty much the same car, perhaps it comes down to the demographic that buys a small family MPV.
But, with my experience of that engine, and the price of that Scenic would make me think it is worth a throw, after all what do you normally get for that kind of price.0 -
Instrument cluster being one of the big problems with the Scenic not present on the Megane - yes Renault will replace it for £100 but why should you need to pay for something they f:mad:ked up0
-
True, and that goes back to a point I made earlier, possibly in a different thread, that a major problem with recent Renaults is the extra gizmos and technology, the wife wanted a Megane with the keyless entry and all that crap, which I wouldn't allow, as we all know who would have to fix it if it broke.
Though I haven't read much about the instruments cluster, I did a few checks about the autobox and that seemed to be a bit of a liabilty.0 -
Keyless means the alarm is a pain in the  too.0
