When you say the cooker has broken, do you know what's actually wrong with it ? If you're at all handy, or have a friend or relative who is, a lot of components are pretty easy to replace. I wouldn't advocate delving in amongst high voltage circuitry if you haven't got a clue what you're doing, but a lot of faults are surprisingly simple to fix.
I hope I can post this without being accused of spamming, but if you look at Espares.co.uk they have a good range of spares, and lots of really good videos of how to fix common faults. I promise I do not work from them - I have no connection with them, other than being a satisified customer a few times :-) There are plenty of other websites that sell spares.
Alternatively, if you're lucky enough to have a good old-fashioned independant "Home Electricals Repair Shop" type place nearby they should be able to give you a quote for a repair, and are likely to be cheaper than one of the big outfits.0 -
I too would suggest a Remoska. If you look at the Remoska thread you will see that many of us have saved quite a lot of money on our energy bills by swapping the oven for the Remoska. Keeps food lovely and moist and my scones are legendary!0

Lots of sympathy from me 2manybooks. I've been oven less for a few weeks now, and as someone who cooks everything from scratch it's been "interesting". Add that to only 1 hob working, extractor broken, tv died, tumble drier broken, laptop died, xbox died, sofa collapsing and light fitting stuck and you understand why I may have drunk a little more wine recently. Fair enough it's not a major natural disaster, but when things are a bit tight it can feel like a real kick in the teeth.
Still, things are looking up here, as I'm sure they will for you. I realised I don't need a tumble drier or the extractor, so money will be saved there. I'm used to the one hob, so not too worried about that. And today luck was shining down since a neighbour was getting a new kitchen fitted, and gave me his oven. Which I'm hoping, when it's wired in, will work a treat since it's identical to the one we had to take to the tip!
Freecycle has already been mentioned, but it might be worthwhile too looking for local pickups on ebay, they tend to go for very little there.
It's also possible, so I've found recently, without an oven to make flapjack, hedgehog slice, various self-saucing puddings (micro), frittata (micro) and many other things. It just takes a bit more thought I've found.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
couldnt just read and run, hope your feeling more positive today - if it wasnt for bad luck you'd have no luck at all! would definately see whats going free on freecycle and also gumtree have a listing for freebies. You can also place an advert for nothing with both of them. - onwards and upwards you wont be beaten!skintbint x
