I know this isn't a real problem compared to many others on this forum but i'm sat here crying because my oven has just broken.
Since the start of the year I have been making a real effort to declutter and improve my home and cook from scratch etc etc. I seem to spend the majority of my time when not at work cooking, cleaning, tidying, chucking stuff out etc etc. However the house still looks like !!!!, we still have too much stuff, I haven't lost any weight.
Since January my washing machine, central heating, shredder and hairdryer have all broken and had to be replaced. This took all the money I'd saved for my holiday in March so spent two weeks at home instead.
I need to have windows replaced before they fall out, they certainly won't make it through another winter and now I need an electrician and probably a new oven as well. So bang goes any hope of a holiday later in the year as well. That's what I get for looking at possible hotels yesterday!
Just to top it off I'd just put a load of scones in to bake - so all that dough has gone to waste as well.

Oh you poor thing...is it horrible when everything goes wrong at once, and it always seems to doent it!
I cant suggest anything apart from to say (((BIG HUGS))) and hope you get some luck soon xxx
I've not had a holiday for ages either and the house feels like a right mess and I just can't afford paint etc at the moment when there are so many other things need getting first...I find a good sulk and a cuppa and MASSIVE bar of choccy helps

Poor you!
At least this means you won't have to replace them again for a while, hopefully. Fingers crossed that you'll get to go away next year!
Also, you live with you and with your house every day. I bet you've become a little fitter and healthier even if you haven't lost weight, and I bet that if you had before pics you'd see the house looks better too. I know it sometimes feels like Sisyphus and his bloody boulder, but every bit of effort you put in is going somewhere, trust me!

Hi 2many
so sorry you are feeling like the world is falling around you. Its an awful feeling when you are trying to get sorted and plan for the future. Life is shoot sometimes but you are not alone. WE are here for you any time that you feel like a bit of support. If I were you I would take insurance out on your new cooker. I had my dishwasher, washing machine and cooker go within a few months of each other and I now spend an extra bit every month but it makes me feel secure. Of course you do have your warranty but when this goes it gives you peace of mind.
Thinking about you.

Have you got any other kitchen appliances or gadgets? eg microwave or slow cooker.
If you need a bit more time to get your cooker sorted then maybe use these for your cooking needs? I remember cooking with a microwave for 6 months when I first got a flat and I could make everything I wanted to with it.
On the bright side I suppose once all of these things have been replaced then they should last you quite a while

Maybe somebody can tell you whether it is possible to freeze the dough to use at a later date if you don't use it now.0

Is it a fitted or freestanding oven? My fitted oven needed a part just before Christmas and the company didn't stock them after 7 years  so I needed to get a new one.
I was surprised that they seem to have come down in price over the years - don't get me wrong, I didn't enjoy buying the thing but it didn't cost as much as I thought it would.
I spent hours looking around and comparing prices and found that Co-op online were the best on price and had free delivery too - plus the points as well
.
Or have a look on Freecycle - there are sometimes ovens on there as people update their kitchens and just want a change of colour or style - how about posting a wanted message on there and see if anyone can help?
Cheer up, those welsh cakes that someone suggested sound quite tasty - but then I'm attracted to anything with cake in the name

Genius idea!
The scone rounds had been in the oven for a couple of minutes before it went kaput so some bits were semi cooked. I have managed to sort of roll them though they are more splats than cakes - but they taste ok
Thank you again0
