A connected phone line is only required on a Sky subscription service for the 1st 12 months (or permanently if you have Multiroom). It's not required on !!!!!!.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • I have just got to the end of my 12m contract with Sky and I am looking to reduce my costs. I am considering cancelling sky all together but i have a young son who likes the kids programems and a family that like the music channels. So I have a couple of questions,
1 if i cancel my sky subscription can i still use the sky+box as a recorder and do i get freeview channels on it?
2 Where can i find the list of available freeview channels (and/or top up tv).
3 Whats the cheapest way of getting the music channels?

At the moment we also have shy phone and sky broadband but I am looking to change them too,
I have a vigin media line/broadband/tv line into the house but dont want to sign up to them due to cost and we are trying to sell the house.
    Thanks

No and No - what you will get is the FreesatFromSky (FSFS) channels but no recording or even playback of existing recordings without a subscription.

Try their websites - TopUpTV is merely Freeview with a few added subscription channels
3 Whats the cheapest way of getting the music channels?
Which channels - some are subscription free

If you intend moving soon note that changing suppliers will almost certainly tie you into new 12 month minimum contracts.

To see the FSFS channels merely remove your present viewing card and surf through - then add 5*, 5*+1, 5 USA, 5 USA+1, Pick TV, Pick TV +1, Viva, LFC TV, Motors TV and Channel 5HD. For the most out of free UK TV then a combination of FSFS and Freeview is the recommended route.
